Hi, my friend. Vista OS is the best release of OS if memory management is concerned. I have 2 GB RAM and only once got this error. This was not because of Vista using more memory. Because, native Vista programs require about 300 MB memory. Other system programs are easily managed by Vista to fit your RAM size.
Gennerally, it amounts to 600-750 MB RAM. So, you never get a memory dump in Vista due to memory overflow of native Vista.
The memory oveflow that is occuring here is due to a virus. Try scanning your system with a good antivirus, preferrably in boot phase. If you still don`t get it, try monitoring your processes for memory usage or you can seek an expert support. Here, at Mylot, we have a virus expert named nitish_ausumn. You may send him a mylot private message for assistance.

Well ,friend, its good to have your RAM upgraded. Your PC may work better.
Also, even if it is due to a virus, then also it may work if the virus is not able to hike the memory usage to 2 GB level.
But, again i would like to tell that appcrash is the process that calls the unexpected termination of any system service, not just memory dump. Also, Many of my friends are using Vista on 1 GB RAM for over a year and easily play heavy games on it. The memory dump, of course, is being caused by memory overflow, but this is caused by an unwanted process, not due to vista.
Well ,you are smarter and you have your own views. Happy mylotting!!

I have recently bought a new computer and have been getting the blue screen and system restarts. I have 3.9 gb ram so it's not necessarily your ram causing the problem. I am still trying to troubleshoot MY issue but it may be caused by conflicting software or hardware. I have already found out that the scanner I got in December and my flash drive won't work on Vista. With my luck it probably doesn't like my printer either. Are you using software or hardware purchased in the past for an XP?
Some other things to look at:
Check your dxdiag to make sure your computer specs meet the minimum system requirements for the program or game you were running.
Check your error log to confirm the program you were running prior to the crash isn't conflicting with something (another program) that may also be running in the background.
I found a great site for figuring out what's running on your computer. They can run a free scan on your computer at fileresearch.com and tell you what each reference in your task manager is and which programs are using it. This can be very useful when you need to free up some system resources. Sometimes a program can get hung and needs to be ended in the task manager before it will launch and run correctly.

Hey,
No I have never gotten that error (at least I don't think I have ever gotten that error). Ahh...sorry now that I read your message again, yes I have gotten that quite a few times. It happened about 5 times, for some reason it never happened after I upgraded to 2GB RAM, I don't know why, now that I think about it. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!
