What do you think about little boys taking dance classes. Last year my daughter started tap and jazz classes and after a few months my 3 year old son wanted to start to. We let him but some of our family thought he should have been put into a "real Sport". Let me tell you when he went to his year end concert and danced his but off I cried like a little baby, I was so proud of him.

I think it's good for boys and girls to take dance class. It doesn't mean your son is going to try to be a professional ballet dancer, although I don't see it as a bad thing if that becomes his ambition. What it does do is give a child some poise and confidence, not to mention good exercise. It's good for an adult to feel somewhat comfortable on a dance floor. Even football players sometimes take dance to help them with their footwork on the field.
I would not just allow dance class, I would encourage it. I would not force a child to do it if they truly don't want to do it, but I think it is very good for a little boy or little girl.

Let him go and enjoy himself, and at the same time you and your husband glow with pride. It is up to you, not the extended family, what your children can and cannot do. If they say anything in your hearing, then just tell them that you are all happy with the decision to let him dance and that is the end of the story.

have you ever seen the muscles on a dancer or gymnast? They are NICE!!! It is a fine way to express themselves and so much fun too. My son loves to dance and I wouldn't mind at all if he were interested in dancing. I was a dancer for 12 years- I am actually encouraging him!! I just don't have the money right now.

My brother took some dance classes. Put him in hip hop, jazz, tap, or Polynesian.
