OMG I was just chatting with her yesterday

One of my online friends (from Yuwie) was murdered yesterday by her husband. He was arguing with her son, shot the son, then her and then himself.

She's wanted to get away from him for a while, said he was an alcoholic and that he could get nasty.
I'm just speechless.

Oh my gosh Dawn, that is horrible. I haven't been on Yuwie in months and months, but is it someone I would have known from before? You can PM me if you think I might have known her.
We all hear about these things but when it happens to someone you know, it makes it all the more horrifying. It could be any one of us ...

Hello dawnald,
I am sorry to hear that. I am speechless and I can't imagine to have a same situation like this; like knowing that someone that's just being murdered is actually my friend. Not long ago, I heard a news that one of myLot members passed away on the operation table. It wasn't tragic like what happened to your friend here but I felt sad for her and the family though I didn't know her at all.

Sh*ts happen so get use to it. I don't know why su*cide is common among westerners. Am not saying it doesn't happen in africa, but in my area its very very rare.

What the heck kind of a comment is that?
A man killed his family in cold blood and then killed himself ... and you say 'get used to it?'
I can't believe you would post something so cold-hearted and callous.

Megaplaza,
2 innocent human beings were murdered in cold blood, one being a mother, another being a son. IF IT WAS YOUR MOTHER OR SON WOULD YOU SAY S*IT HAPPENS SO GET USED TO IT?
I doubt it, and if you would, well that just goes to show the kind of heartless prude you really are!

How terrible! Sometimes I wonder how people like that are allowed to walk the Earth! How old was the son, any idea?

Some times people just don't think these things will ever happen to them. It's the saddest thing!

Sorry to hear this Dawn. It's always sad when something like this happens but it really hits home when it's happened to someone we have grown to know and care about.
I being a SURVIVOR of domestic violence try my hardest to stress to people how truly important it is to get out of that situation, but so many don't listen, as I didn't because I "loved" him.
People want to leave, but they fear being alone, being able to financially make it, and whether or not the abuser will come after them.
They need to know there is always a way out to safety ALWAYS someone somewhere is willing to help.
It's really terrible that Lynda didn't make it out before it was too late.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family, and thank you for posting this as I did not know.

Yes it is truly important, as many think they don't have anywhere to go, or are more afraid of the challenges ahead if they do go, then they are of being abused.
Unfortunately whomever is the "victim" won't leave until they have their mind set to do so, and even then they will go back to the abuser more often then not. Hopefully though they will make their decision to leave for good.
I wonder... an idea came to mind, but I don't want to talk about it here. I'll send you an email tomorrow.

My god that's awful dawn, I have nightmares about something like that happening to my online friends and I'd never know because there would be no one to tell me. Life is really ugly sometimes and with a situation like this there's little you can say or do to comfort someone or yourself. What was her user name on Yuwie? I have a feeling I knew her too.

Thinking about what I should have in place if something prevents me from being online for a time, or forever. I value my online friends and would not want them to be left wondering.
We are only physically connected by keyboards and wires. The heart connections are stronger and need to be honored.

I am so sorry, this is when a news headline becomes fact for you. We live in a world full of violence and feel that it is an acceptable way to deal with life/s problems. It is common to blame yourself, to reexamine every word to see if you might have helped. Don't waste energy on this, there was nothing you could do,
now just send good energy to your friend to send her on her way. Blessings and tears

I wasn't really blaming myself, though now that you mention it I do wish I had spoken to her more strongly about leaving. But can't change the past. May she rest in peace.

Hi dawnald,
Exactly what a horrible thing to happen, I am sorry, I could only imagine how you felt, we have to really be careful now a days you hear this more now then ever, these men are nuts, they take their children as well, I really hope he burns in he]], I don't want anything to do with an aggressive man, you never know what they are capable of, someone woman feel when men control them its love, Not, its his insecurities and he will hurt you if gets the chance, we all need to be careful with the men we choose to have relationships with, so scary thanks for sharing.

So sorry to hear the news of your online friend and her son both being murdered by her husband, and shocking news for you, especially since you were only chatting with her the day before. She should have left him a long time ago, she might still be alive today, and her son.
I often wonder why some women stay in these abusive relationships; your friend paid the ultimate price for not making the decion to leave him sooner. So sad.

Hi dawn, I saw the video and its clear that they had a verbal fight before the actual event came to the fore.
Now these are the recurring events world wise. I do not understand what is the undercurrent? Ok you get divorced or something that pleases you but killing and all is too bad. I feel sorry that you lost a good friend of yours.
