How can you get yourself promoted?

Today, I was at the mailroom copying some documents and drawings for the engineer, and the document control office. I accidentally saw those managers level personnel were walking down the aisle, and talking about strategic planning for the future expansion. I was "wow" to myself. I wonder when can I be promoted to be the manager like them. I wish that I can be smarter, or given an opportunity to show my ability. Was it a daydream, or I can achieve it if I work harder, and study more? Don't you get the same feeling too?

lots of companies offer you the chance to take courses within the company which will enable you to show them you have qualifications to move up to the next level. It good also to keep a record of anything you do personnally for the company which shows that you would deserve a promotion
