Thankfully this has never happened to me or a relative I know of but it has to other people I know.
Accidents which claim lives or limbs are so devastating. Sometimes I cant understand why or how people can gather to view these gruesome incidents. I feel as if I just want to burst out crying at the thought of people hurt and mangled like that with metal.
A church brother of mine crashed and died a few years ago. He was a cab driver and had a special group of people he was contracted to take to work early every morning. I was on my way to work when someone at the bus stop mentioned his name and that he had died in an accident just minutes before, maybe four miles from where we were. I was in shock. Plus I would have to pass the accident site.
Thankfully just as my bus made its way up to the car the firemen covered his side of the vehicle and proceded to cut him from the wreckage. I saw his wife and step son standing a little away from the car. People say he died with a smile on his face. He just seemed to know there was nothing else he could do to avoid the accident. Thankfully his passengers got hurt but were safe.
According to reports he crashed headon with a truck which was driving with only one funtioning headlight. It was early and visibility was not very clear as it was December and it gets foggy then. Other motorist would have thought that truck was a bike. He apparently did and proceeded to over take.
Even if the truck had only one functioning headlight why didnt it have reflectors. That would have helped a lot. Sometimes a headlight goes bad and the driver is not aware until someone points it out to them so I'll reserve feelings on that and give the truck driver the benefit of the doubt. But where were his eflectors. trucks usually have a number of reflectors all over them to aid with visibility to other motorist and it even help to give an idea of its size.
Its hard to accept the death of a loved one more over to live with the knowledge that someone's neglegence had taken them from you. Gone too soon.
I wish the police had spotted that driver that morning before the accident occurred. Some motorist take chances with the law and in the long run end up hurting their fellow men. It is better if he had been caught and ticketed rather than charged for manslaughter. No lives would have been lost and he wouldnt face imprisonment and maybe leaving a family for which he is the bread winner.
Have you ever been on the undesirable side of pain and loss due to an accident?
Sometimes one man's story helps another to heal so feel free to share your story here.

Hi tjades...My parents met with an accident and I lost them forever. They were returning home after attending a marriage and their car was hit head on by a speeding truck. The truck driver was drunk.
My mom slipped into coma instantly and my Dad also was seriously injured on the head. A brain operation was performed on him and he also slipped into coma.
Doctors had given me a survival hope of 30% but that was a lot for me.
I prayed God day and night. I spent every penny I had, sold my house and sold everything. But I could not save my parents. God did not heed to my prayers.
I lost my parents and since then i am left all alone in this world, as I was the only child of my parents.
Just a small fault of a person and my whole life got completely ruined.
Every moment i miss my parents and the loneliness and emptiness has changed my sweet home to a HOUSE.

Nivedita what can I say? There are those times in this life when you are left without adequate words to express how you feel. This is one of those moments.
Not only was that such a great loss to you but the manner in which they were taken is just so unkind. Only time brings healing to experiences such as this. I send you my love and comfort but I know they are inadequate to take away your sorrow even a bit.
Stay strong and take comfort in the fact that your parents would heve wanted their only child to remain strong.
All the best and thanks for sharing such a touching part of your life.

I had a car accident in 2006. I broke my heel. I had to have a plate and 9 screws put in to hold it together. It took 6 months to get walking again and 3 months of physical therapy. It changed my life forever. It still swells and hurts sometimes. I cannot bend my foot in the middle or the big toe so I can only wear flats. I cannot run and can hardly keep up with the kids. I doin g much better today.

My dad got into bike accident for hitting a dog. My dad was drunk that time, good thing he got only scratches on his right arm and leg. 2 months after, my brother got into another accident, still for hitting a dog. He was out with his friends, when he wanted to go home to poop. he was driving really fast that he didnt saw the dog passing by. And just scratches still on his right legs. But he was having a hard time walking after that..took him 3 weeks to walk straight. Good things its not really that seriuos.

It is a good thing indeed. I hope both of them learnt their lesson and avoid getting on a bike or behind a steering wheel while drunk or in a great hurry.
So there was a dog waiting to tteach both of them a lesson uh.... Poor animals

Yea my two elder cousins met with a very serious accident in 2005. It was night time and one of my cousins was driving and one sleeping and the driver was sitting behind (sleeping). It was really dark and the head lights of the car were not working properly. there was a dump pit in front of the road which my cousin was not able to not see and the car crashed.
My cousin the one who was driving got hurt on his back, several inner injurious, the driver was not that hurt just a hand injury and some bruises but fate dawned upon my other cousin and he broke his backbone! he even suffered other injuries. After that he was operated and the lower part of the backbone (near the hip which was broken) was replaced. He was only 21.
Till date his back pains and my family fears that he will never get married! :(

Such trauma is much for a young man to go through. I understand that old injuries such as those are such a bother. I am sorry your cousin has to go through this.
The woman of his life may just be waiting to find him. I ish him all the best and as much comfort as possible with all the pain he will still have to go through.

when i was in high school, my friends and i decided to work on a project in a classmate's house. So during our ride in a public utility jeep, we were so happy and was talking about what to do in our project. when we were taking off, one of our classmates was hit in the face by a side mirror with a ten-wheeler truck. She was lying on the street when we saw her. I was in a state of shock because in the first place, my parents didn't allow me to go. Then the accident happened. She was rushed into the nearest hospital. Now she has recovered and is successful with her life.

I have a brother you was in a motorcycle accident when he was 16. That was 41 years ago! My brother was coming home after football practice. It was dark and he was traveling on the wooded back roads. A deer jumped out in front of my brother's motorcycle. MY brother tried to avoid the deer. In the process he wiped out. He ended up with severe road burns and was in the hospital for like a week. my brother was wearing a helmet and if he hadn't I wouldn't have a big brother anymore! I remember seeing the helmet not long after the accident. It saved his life! Ever since his accident there has been no helmet law in the state I live in! I hate seeing people riding motorcycles without helmets! Then I hear about motorcycle accident where the driver was killed because he didn't wear a helmet! So many people who ride don't care or don't get it! I wish a law will be passed someday making helmets mandatory! It would save alot of lives!

Actually, i am staying with my son who was in an automobile accident over 8 months ago. His friend was driving and pulled out in front of a large pick up truck. My son pretty much took the brunt of the crash and has a major head injury he is still recovering from his other injuries have healed. He was in ICU for 3.5 weeks then in an isolation room for 3 months. We are now in a nursing home and he is still recovering.
He had crushed ribs on his right side along with a collapsed lung... 6 ribs broken on the left side. The traumati brain injury which is slow to heal. A broken neck and back. the back wasn't a serious break but and the neck has healed. He also had a liver laceration and a spleen injury...
He was unconscious for 3 weeks and is still waking up slowly.
My life stopped November 8.... I have been with him ever since.
btw.... the kid didn't have any insurance!

Ah... Now your last statement passed though my mind wile reading and you have confirmed the worst. You said your life stopped. I would have felt the very same.
One 15yr old boy just recently stole away in his dad's pickup to take a joy ride with friends. Of the five kids in that pickup he was the only one to survive after he crashed into a utility pole.
These things just cant be easy to deal with. I hope your son will have a speedy recovery. Thanks for sharing and please give your son a rose for me.
