Thats about it I am looking for advice for a new homeowner. When you bought your first home what did you find out you needed but never thought you did? Where is the best place to get the basics (ie towels, drapes, rugs)? What have you found as the hardest thing to remember to do that you didn't before you owned your first home?

I think bed bath and beyond is a good place to get supplies. When I bought my first house I got them at Bed bath and beyond. I think there are many things you can get, dont forget wastebaskets and things like that. I guess there are many things you will remmeber once you get to the store. Congratulations because it is exciting to buy a house.

When we bought our house (a new modular home), we spoke with 2 separate plumbers about using Rid-Ex for our septic tank, and they both said that Rid-Ex is just a gimmick, and to save our money. Also, don't flush paper towels down the toilet (in case you have children, they sometimes forget this). Paper towels can get hung up in the pipes. It's good to have some small fans to place in different rooms in the summertime. I shop at Wal-mart for basics, their prices are the best I've seen. I hope this helps. Congrats on being new homeowners!
