I don't agree with this decision made by the Malaysian Government. I used to study the Math and Science in Bahasa Malaysia, and I faced so much problem when I entered university where all of these subjects were taught in English. Nearly failed my first term because of that. My point is, these two subjects materials are vastly available globally through the Internet and discussed globally in English language. Students as young as 12 years old in developed countries are writing white papers and research materials in English. How would our students able to collaborate with them? Future winning strategy is gauge by the amount of information you have. It is the information age, dude! I'll start a bigger education fund now to enable my son goes to a Private School to get the education in English Language. Thanks to you, Malaysia Government.

I'm sorry it make you felt the way you do. I'm a teacher at a rural area, and I must say, pupils at rural area are left behind than the pupils in the urban area. Please think about them. Science and Math are a very difficult subjects, and therefore in order to make pupils easily understand, will it be good to teach them in a language that they used to. Even though Science and Math is being to back to teach and learn in Malay, but there are things will be taken to improve English proficiency among the pupils. I believe it wasn't easy decision but I believe government has their own reason for doing so.

I strongly disagree with the Malaysian Government decision. The politicians are playing with fire just to fish for votes. How can they sacrifice the children's future or rather the future leaders's future just to win votes? On the other hand the children of those in power attend International Schools all in English and grow up to lead those who cannot communicate in English. Besides, school children gather materials for their Science Projects from the web which is in English. Remember! English is the global and lingua franca.

I am totally outraged at this decision too. The worst reason they can come out with is the teachers can't cope with teaching in English! Say what? This is like saying, the teacher is no good, so the students cant be better!

I totally agree with you. This is really annoying, imagined those born in 1996. This young minds were the first batch being introduced Maths & Science in English. They are doing well and this is the right way they are heading into Information Age. But out of sudden, due to someone who are not considerate.. not far thinking enough.. these young children are heading to trouble in year 2012 when they will be forced to face a total "different terms" for Maths and Science in Bahasa Malaysia. It is like throwing them down into the sea and expect them to swim when all this while they are trained only to "fly aeroplane". Totally different terms used eg. if I am not mistaken "bangkali" (BM) means chance/probability. No correlation at all, not like information = informasi which they can roughly gauge the meaning. This will be a very confusing / alien situation for them. How about those poor not so well to do family, can they send their children (Form 4) to private school which is really costly and will be more expensive by then? Please, please : a rolling stone will gather no moss! Please for once make a Right decision for our Next Generation. We are moving Forward not Backward.. sigh!
