Best RPG out there?

GREAT discussion question! I love RPGs, but some battle systems turn me off of some of the most popular ones, like all the Final Fantasies. I never cared for those because it seems like the same game just redone so many times with different characters. There is a free game you can download online called Ahriman's Prophecy...it has sequels as well that you can buy, but the first one is free, and I loved the game. It took me about forty hours to complete and had a great story...so many sidequests...it was so fun! And for free! :) My favorite console RPG is The Last Remnant for the Xbox 360, made by the people who made Final Fantasy but with different battle systems and on different worlds. Beautiful gameplay, awesome battles, creative characters. I would highly recommend it. I also really loved both Baulder's Gates. RPGs are so fun but I'm so picky with them! Anyways, those were my favorites. :)

yeah tales series are the best love it suikoden too dont forget xenogear, that is one of the great games i've played but recently my love for RPG is at atlus production such as shin megami tensei: persona etc. atelier iris 2, ar tonelico and of course super robot wars yeah

All time Favorite is still non other than FF (Final Fantasy Series). Among all, my favorite is FF X-2. Cheers and great topic.

I have to say my faves is anything FF. I started with FF7 and have since worked both backwards and forwards playing everything but that travesty that was an attempt at an mmo. I love the Crystal Cronicals especially the newest one that came out on the WII and is multi player between the WII and the DSI. That is the best! I am also INSANE and will eat peoples heads if they talk bad about Mass Effect and Assassins Creed. And I am seriously counting the days down for the sequel for both of them!!!! I am getting all excited just thinking about it. Oh yeah and don't tell me about FF13. It is already bought, paid for and will ship to my house the day it comes out. :D

My favorite RPG series are Suikoden, Tales of, Mother, Phantasy Star and Dragon Quest. Oh thanks for reminding me of the english patch! I can't wait to play it~~~!!

Final Fantasy (pre-X2) and Suikoden are pretty good. I'm not sure if xenogears qualifies as your typical RPG but I'm going to count it and toss it in there.

Omg I love rpg's. Some of my all time favorites are Kingdom Hearts sereis, Xenosaga series, Final fantasy 12, Suikoden series, Radia story, and Grandia 3. Those are some of my favorites. I loved the game style of Magna carta tears of blood. It was unique but the story was really depressing.
