I live in Lanham Maryland and drink from the tap all the time. However I when I was living just a few miles away in a less populated suburb the tap water was untouchable. It seems everyday on the news there is something wrong with the tap water somewhere. I'm just curious as to who still drinks tap , where you live and why?

Hello chrystal, well our tap water is perfectly fine to drink and we also have the option of natural spring water which can be obtained from various taps around the village. I always keep bottles of this in the house in case the tap water goes off which it does quite frequently. However in the next village they cannot drink the tap water as it is very salty and they are reliant on the natural spring water taps for drinking water or have to buy bottled water.

I live in a very big city and it has got a half dozen lakes which together provide water to its inhabitants. The water is purified and one can drink it directly from the tap.But still one can never take risks and so we boil the water before drinking it.Till now it has been going on like this. But nowadays a few cases of certain areas getting coloured water or worms in water are surfacing.Hence we plan to use some good filter to prevent such things.

Drinking tap water is not the good idea..Specially when it is the monsoon time..Its not pure.. I prefer drinking filtered water or boiled water..Always it is not possible to boil so much water( I drink 5 liters of water a day)... Water purifier machine is most important...

My city Bangalore has very safe Drinking Water from the Tap. Not only safe, somehow the Water tastes very sweet. It's not just me, but every Bangalorean will vouch for. The Water has been safe but the only problem is that the Municipal releases Water only for 4 hours once in two days. Now, if you have to travel then lot of planning will go on how to store the Water, as you do not want to face shortage of Water as soon as you reach your home. How is the Water supply in your city??

we don't drink tap water here in our city because it's polluted. Some pipes have rust that flows with the water that's why many street children gets diarrhea or worst, cholera. So we order outside and drink on our dispenser.:)

Dear friend, I do like in the South of India, here tap water is not at all good for drinking until the water is sterlized. But the availability and supply of water in the place where I live is much better and there are places where water supply is much difficult. But drinking tap water here is not good.

The water from the plant is up to standard, but the pipes leading to homes have been used for a long time, some rusty seriously. If the water is jumped to the roof container, potential contamiation is caused if not properly maintained and cleaned. Plan is available, but execution takes time. By and by, all the pipes will be replaced, and container cleaning is subject to more strict supervision. We am talking only about the water used for cleaning. We do not have drink water system, so taught not to drink directly from tap since childhood.
