In my country India. Most of us use our Hands for eating food and we use spoon/ forks only if we go for an eatout to restaurants and other food courts. There is no definite rules regarding which hand to use for holding the knife, forks etc over here

Oh! Well there are few who come from India said that you could use either of the hand and this belief make us different to each other. But as long as you enjoy your food then this is good.
Thank you for sharing here your opinion.
Good luck and happy mylotting!

We mostly get to know our hand dominance by the time we use utensils for the first time. If we hold the spoon with one hand, that hand would either tell one from a right handed person to the left handed one. Eating is one of the basic instincts that we have so, we can't help it if we use one hand and not the other.
Then again, I know left handed people who still use their right hand to hold the spoon. I guess that they got the habit like that.
I'm right handed and hold the spoon with my right hand but, I really do fancy using my left hand for other things like, writing.. I do want to learn how to write with my left hand (^_^ )

I asked my mom before why we all were right handed in the family and she said that it was due to how it was how it should be. Whenever her father sees them use the left hand, he'd insist for them to use the right hand. Very strict I guess but, I still have an uncle from her side of the family which is actually left handed.
Yeah, familiarity plays a role.
Your welcome (^_^ )

Hmmmm it depends on familiarization of each hand! Yeah, it could be, it's like everyday practice makes you perfect, when everyday we use right hand to eat then tendency is we can be dependent and only in right hand we can eat good but there are some exception.
Thanks for the information.

Good has given us two hands , each one of same size ,same strengh & same colour.
It is yours point of view that whether right hand is to be used or left.
So , Its human who makes such auspicious things of right or wrong ,colour & creed not God.
So, According to me it doesn't matter which hand you use.

You're right! But here is I'm referring to the culture and traditions how it influences the use of right and left hand to eat. Since you've said that only human's perception it is.
In some places like Philippines the behavior and manners of people are almost pattern in similarities of faith and belief.

I think different cultures view different rules for these table manners. However, when using fork and spoon, it is a standard that fork is at the left and spoon at the right except for the left-handed it will be the other way round.

Yup! It's the proper etiquette. That's the standard table manners. But in some cases this is not generally followed as what you've said in depends on the culture and traditions.
Wherever you are comfortable that's important! As long as you can put properly the food on your mouth and not on your nose, he he he!

I am right handed so I used my right hand for spoon and fork in the left hand. But when I am doing something like texting or calling I use my left hand. I can use my left hand if my right hand is so tired. Both of my hands can do the same job and very helpful, although my right hand are used to durability and strength.

Most of the people found it stronger with their right hand.
Lefties maybe exempted to this. Good to know that both of your hand can do your everyday activity.
Both of my hand can work too but their is a specific purpose each.
Only at right hand I can right good.
Only at right hand I can shake hands with my fellow.
Only at right hand I use to eat.
But it is not limited to it because there are few times that the right hand would not be available.

Since I am right handed, I always hold a fork or a spoon in my right hand, I have never used a fork and a spoon at the same time, so I always use my right hand. The only time that I hold a fork in my left with food is when I am using it to cut up food with a knife, and so I hold the knife in my right so it can be more steady, and hold the fork in the left the guide it.

Well, here also in India, people believe the same. But, I don`t do. We have got both hands to work. So, i am ambidextrous. But, for spoon, i generally use my left hand, that`s childhood habit.
Happy Mylotting!!

I am left handed, so my spoon is generally in my left hand...I can eat with my right hand, but I usually hit my nose! I know that when I was in the first grade, and I was the only kid in my class who wrote with my left hand, my teacher tried to get me to write with the other hand. I wouldn't, but she pushed me very hard and I don't write all crooked like most left handers, I have very nice penmanship.

LOL at this discussion. I was about to make one similar to this. Good thing I searched for it first. We're from the same country. However, I'm not a Muslim but we're still KABABAYAN! =P Good to find another here. Anyway, yeah, this was one of my issues when I was a child. My parents would train me to hold the spoon with my right hand because that's what we consider here as PROPER. I just couldn't make it! I'm a left-handed gal. I use my left hand when I write and I can't do it with the right hand so I guess that's where that issue came from. Now that I've grown up, I doesn't matter to me anymore nor it does to my parents. They just leave me along ahaha. I think I should stop now. Happy Tuseday evening, my friend. See you around.

I hold my spoon in my right hand, knife in the right hand and fork depends on the food. if i have to use both knife and fork at the same time then fork would be in left hand, if no knife is needed then fork switches to right hand

I use my right hand for both my fork and my spoon. I don't even think I could eat right with my spoon or fork in my left hand, I am just not used to that. The only time I would hold the fork in my left hand is if I was cutting with my right hand.

I'm left handed. I hold my spoon in my left hand. When using a fork and knife I have the fork in my right hand and the knife in my left.
I do know that in some cultures it is considered an insult to eat with your left hand.. Is it an insult in the Phillipines? Can you explain why the right must be used when eating? I am curious.

Tradition and cultures that's the reason but since you ask me my personal explanation is this:
Right - means correct (therefore for all activities this is correct to use as priority when not available then use the left)
Left - means forget, never mind, leave
In short right is use for good.
