How do you feel when someone tells you that he/she hates you?

I usually say that i try very hard to make them hate me... but usually people say something amony the lines "yo are such a B***" and then i say "I try"

to be honest, i'm good at ignoring people's comments about me. when i was little my father was teaching me how not to get upset by torturing me... he had a very big mouth... mean sarcastic kind of guy, so every time i'd start crying because he was making fun of me he would stop and tell me that if i was to stop reacting to these comments then he would stop torturing me because then it wouldn't be fun any more... eventually i found it to be very true, some people say nasty things just because they like to see people get angry, so i stoped reacting to it. now even when people say things like that i just don't care... also sometimes when someone makes fun of me or tells me what a horrible person i am i just agree with them and make fun of myself too... people don't know how to react to that, so they stop... just a little psychological trick i learned thanks to my dad... i never take things too close to my heart, usually people don't really mean it, or if they do then i don't care much about these people...

Hello superjelly. I havent been told that someone hates me. But if that happens, I would also like to find out why that person hates me and if I do find the answer, I'll respect that person. I cannot force the person to like me. It does hurt when someone tells you he/she hates you but, thats life you cannot please everybody.

Well, so far nobody has told me that they hate me. ;) Don't such words usually pass between a couple who have just had a good old fight? When they make up again, they say "I love you." After all, hate is the other side of the same coin.

when someone says that s/he hates me then it hurts me if i have good feelings for them. but i face the reality and don't show my weakness. i let the person go away from my life. i don't even try to give explanations. it is the other persons choice and desire to hate me. i cannot force love for myself.

Yeah, it's their choice to hate you. it hurts our feelings as well but facing reality sometimes helps.
