Now, picture something like this happening here in the U.S. particularly in an area where castle statutes still stand...recipe for disaster...not to mention the 4th amendment issues this would raise here........
POLICE have been breaking into people's houses — in a bid to scare residents into locking up their homes
[i]
Two female Police Community Support Officers have been clambering through open windows and doors to show homeowners how easy it is for thieves to break in.
The cops came face-to-face with shocked residents as they pottered around at home in the posh seaside resort of Hove in East Sussex......

Hi xfahctor, I've come to this discussion late to see what the latest loopey law the UK has introduced and seen the responses here.
Firstly the sun is the gutter tabloid press and is really the equivalent of the American papers which are sold at supermakets proclaiming things like 'gorilla had human baby'. It is purchased by men who have no other way to see half naked ladies over their morning cuppa. You get the picture. This piece of rubbish they report is about as relevant to the UK as a group of neighbourhood watchers trying out the same thing in a small American town.
Since i lived in the UK they have come up with many ridiculous rules which deserve much more pulicity than this bit of nonsense. The reality is that if you were to call the police over suspicions that someone was acting suspiciously like they were going to break into a house they would have been off with the full contents before the police even respond.

I am making sure now that everything ios locked to the extent that they wont even be able to get in witht their door smashing thingys. (sorry for the oh so technical term lol). Wow we as a country are really going downhill!

Are you legaly allowed to kill an intruder in the U.K? Just curious.
I can see this ending very badly eventually, for either a home owner, a cop, or both.
Here in the U.S. there are many states where it is perfectly legal to use deadly force in defense of family and property. And then we also have the constitution's 4th amendment which prohibits un warrented entery to property or searches of such buy police, etc.
I just found this whole story REALLy bizzare, you guys are creeping even more towards a nanny state than even we are these days...

Nope. We even get in trouble if we are getting beaten up and we hit back in self defense! Its ridiculous, I dont know where these stupid laws came from. I wish I could move into a country that has more lenancy on things like that but its not that easy any more. Also I dont think I could leave my family behind. (my mum dad and little brother)

Is this even true?? The Sun is not known for being a beacon of accurate and truthful reporting... In short, if there's no news, they are quite capable of making it up.

You're right, that is bizzare. Even if I didn't own any weapons, if someone suddenly appeared inside of my house...police officer or not...he/she's getting hit with a 9 iron or something...and then the dog can have em.

Freedom has been on the decline lately in the UK, and it is declining VERY rapidly. You might want to check out these others startling and interesting articles.
