I do have credit cards, visa and master card. I use them when travelling, so that I won't have to be carrying a lot of cash. But, when back home, I try to minimize the use of credit cards because I really don't want the debts building up. I'd rather make payments in cash then. Do you use credit cards often ?

Hi, I use my credit card when I don't have the time to go to the bank to withwraw cash. I have to really want something before I will spend. I don't use it for necessities but I always repay the bill at the end of the billing cycle. If it is a large purchase I can split the payment in half but I prefer to pay the entire bill when it is due.I rarely use my credit cards.

I have a bank card so it is better for me than cash. The money comes from the same account my cash would. So I don't have to go to the bank and get out the cash.

I think i don't use the credit card so often!!In reality when i come to buy something in shops i normally use cash and so credit card i will use it only when i buy somethin online or about some few purposes!!So normally i like more to pay in cash but i know that in soem cases, especially when you travel, credit card should be really comfortable in this way you don't take with yourself big amount of money!!

Like you, my husband and I usually use our credit cards when travelling but we do use our business credit card regularly and pay the balance every month. We do this because our business is relatively new and using the card helps to build a credit history.

I have two small credit cards that I keep just to keep revolving lines of credit for my credit score. The past few months I had wished I didn't have them because I was laid off from my job of 15 years. When I pay them off this month, because I FINALLY have some money again, I will be so happy. My credit sucks because of my ex husband...all the debt went to me in the divorce because he was an unemployeed jerk. I am only 10k from paying off a 35k debt...not doing to bad I guess. But I wouldn's suggest having credit cards if you can't afford them, and I only use mine for things like gas, maybe the movies, and then pay them off every month.

I do have credit cards too and like you, I try to minimize (if not totally avoid) the use of my credit cards. If it's absolutely unavoidable (like if I don't have cash and the ATM is not available), I always make sure that I pay my bills on time so I wouldn't have to pay for the interest. :)

I don't have any credit card. I don't like them at all. I am afraid that it will be very tempting for me to buy everything I want that I don't need. Some banks already offer me to make the credit card but I refuse it. I think if I I really need it, I will just borrow it from my friends. I confess that sometimes buying with credit card is cheaper than if we buy it with cash.

I use credit cards all the time and now I am in debt for a very long time. This is not a pretty situation. Credit cards can be useful when you are in need but can be taken to the limit. Credit cards are nice to have but too easy to use and run up. The finace charges are bad and all the fee assessed. Credit card companies will take advantage of you big time if you let them. Not a good thing when your tring to get out of debt credit cards will drag you under. I really need to quit using them but it's tempting in everyday situations I just can't help it.

I think that one must not use his/her credit cards often . It will have a bad result . We will never know the amount of money that we are paying. Yes i know it is more comfortable to carry around a credit card more than cash . But on the other way it is a very bad thing to use. I never use credit cards. I also always tell people around me not to use them as it will sometimes make us fall in debts without our knowledge.

Well i can say one thing. Its much more easier to spend money with credit card, because you dont see real money. The only thing that you see is numbers. When you are paying with real money you are more accurate with all your payments.
So i would suggest to use cash only.... At least that's what i'm doing..

I don't go out without my credit card..it's more convenient than cash....then it is easier for me to track my money since I do online banking, and can check online from time to time to make sure my money is doing just fine...

Hi Greenline, I often use credit cards, except at places that only take cash; or when the transaction is too small an amount. I would shop at places that have discounts or promotional programs with my cards; so that I would get better deals as well as collect redemption points. I suppose it takes some discipline not to overspend; I often tell myself that whatever I spend on credit, I will still end up paying when the bill comes. So that stops me from unnecessary spending!

I have had enough of credit cards to last a life time! I used to have one but then I guess I got into difficulty and was unable to pay the thing off and as a result I am in debt, a debt which I'm still trying to get rid of. Ultimately I destroyed the credit card and have come to the decision that I will never travel down that road again, it's just not worth it. I will say one thing that is good about the credit card and that is, if you do a lot of travelling and you are stuck in another part of the world, that piece of plastic can then become very useful, invaluable as a matter of fact. Well, I don't travel that much so I guess this doesn't apply to me. Once I am debt free it will all be over!! Andrew

Yes. I've been using credit cards since the last 5 plus years. I've been successful in using it judiciously and have hardly paid any late fee or interest. as I've noticed, there are a few providers who look for opportunities to charge a penalty for a sill reason least caring about the innocence / ignorance of intelligent usage.
The usage has to be well within the limits of your wallet. Just make the best use of the credit period of 40 or 50 days limit that is provided along with the card.

I sparingly use my credit card when I want to but something because I do not want to incur any debts that I cannot pay later on. I do not want to be forever paying bills due to excessive use of my credit card.

Well I really don't have any credit cards rather I use Debit card because it's much better than the Credit card. One you are unable to pay your credit for a month the percentage for the interest will increase from time to time. But still much wiser to use cash.
