Hey friends, this is so dumb, who would bother to waste their time to copy someone else' discussion? I would love to hear more about this. If someone is guilty of doing this please tell us why you feel like you can't come up with your own discussions. I am very curious to hear what you have to say. I think that mylot is big enough for all of us here. For different thoughts, ideas and philosophies. So there is really no need for anyone to copy anybody else. Diversity is a very beautiful thing here at mylot! So why bother to copy?

I'm sometimes not sure because I figure that it may be similar but not exactly what your asking for.
But it is suggested that we search for it before attempting to make a new discussion. I don't think it is such a huge deal because i would think that each person probably had something specific but around the same genre.
I just enjoy replying and feel that maybe no one really reads what your saying or they don't know you. so you feel just comfortable to talk.
I hope no one stole your discussion and offended you. Godbless and have fun my lotting.
And I totally agree with you.

Copying someone else' discussion........
Hello doggyhouz, no so far no one has copied my material, not to the best of my knowledge but I thought of this when I read that one of our fellow mylotters was very upset because someone has copied their material. I thought to myself, what a low down thing to do. Well I never said anything but I do hope that by posting this discussion that whoever it is that's doing the copying will get the message that it's not a good thing to copy the work of others without first asking their permission. Happy mylot and thanks for caring!

i wouldnt think of copying as it is against the rules.but i have been guilty of accidently starting one very similar without realising it till later. im not sure how you find out if its a recent discussion someone else already started. where do you look to check? anyway, i have seen friends come up with almost exact discussion a day after mine so suspect them of copying the idea. it dont bother me tho. one thing for sure, i dont think you can come up with a discussion that hasnt been on mylot at some point unless its brand new news. i've even started a couple and found out what i thought was new news was several years old!!

no i don't copy anyone's discussion...but i must admit that i sometimes post discussions with the same topics like the others but of course the content is not similar...i even got some that even gets the same title! and i hate it when it happens! those are not intentional...well i guess i do have faults coz before i do not actually use that search bar...but now i am using that already and so i avoid posting the same title of the same topic...
and yes i think its really not proper and unfair to copy a discussion of someone...

hello again!
you can use that search bar to search topics that are already posted here, example you have a topic in your mind about something then try to type it there and point on the discussion and after that all discussion related to that word you type will appear and so you can check now if it is already existed or not...but actually sometimes i still get some topics with similar discussion. but again the contents are different...when i saw the same title as i'm thinking i just think of another title...i guess its always possible that we came out to topics that are the same as the other but just make sure that the content is your original...
maybe this discussion can help you...

Copying someone else' discussion.......
Hello ckyera, thank you for responding to my discussion. I would like for you to explain more about the search bar if you don't mind. So far I have never copied anyone's work and I sure do hope that times will never get that hard. I believe there is far too much out here for us to talk about so why waste time copying someone else? It would be almost as if we are all standing around in a conversation then somebody says something, then someone else come right along and repeat what had just been spoken, word for word. What would be the point in it? Anyhow Perhaps if you could give all of us some guidance on the search bar their won't be so much copying going around here. I'll admit that it might require a little more work to have to look up something but it would be worth it to know that your work is original, I would think. Hoping to hear from you soon. Happy mylot and thanks again for sharing!

NO WAY!! I could not copy and paste someone else's work... the only thing that may happen is I am responding to a discussion and I have some other thoughts or views on the matter or want to really expand on a similar subject... but I would never take credit for someone else work or thoughts... I swear there has been a couple discussion that I have seen some people post right after I start it... and the topic is very similar! That really ticks me off.. I write from the heart, and use my knowledge to help others.. To have someone sit there and rip me off, my thoughts and feeling that is frustrating to say the least!! For any fellow mylotter that wants to sit there and do that; please stop using this site!!! We do not need garbage like that on here.. Thank you
Nice subject Citychic..

copying someone else' discussion.........
I agree with you sjvenden, it would feel like someone would be ripping us apart to take our discussion and copy it word for word. Well I didn't know there would be such a large turnout for this discussion but it must be more plagiarism going on than what we really think. Hope you never have this done to you sjvenden and thanks for the compliment. Have a nice weekend!

No one has done this to me that I know of.. at least here on my lot.. The reason I get so heated about this kind of subject is the fact that some people enjoy taking the credit of others.. My mother did that all of the time.. she would say well if it was not for me you would have never been able to do that.. blah blah... It was my will power, my personal strength that got me through the years, yes I have lots and lots of help.. but I hate feeling like a nothing.. or a robot

i don't understand why someone would copy some one else discussion yes it is dumb and isn't that a form of plagiarism anyway. i think some one who did this obvious dose not have a brain that is smart enough to think up of their own ideas. yes diversity is a beautiful thing !!!!!

Well i have never copied or will copy someone else's discussion as i know that mylot deletes such copied ones. Also it is a waste of time and it gives a bad impression of the person.

Copying someone else' discussion.......
Hello Mayka123, I agree with you. Why can't someone just open up the dictionary to a word if they are so desperate for topics to discuss, then just start writing about them. I don't understand how anyone can be so shallow as to steal another person's article. If I happen to like something that someone else writes, then I will always put the person's name in it so that person will get credit for it. There is a right and a wrong way to do everything. To copy another person's material so as to claim if for our own is just plain wrong! Happy mylot!

I never copied anybody's discussion, I admit that sometimes I create duplicate discussions that I didn't know before I posted but I tried not to do that; even so, topics can be the same but content can be different point of views.

I even hate others who copy so how can i copy myself. I want to remain unique so i always put original things. Whats the benefit if we are posting the same thing that people already know. Also its against the site rules and i realy look awkward if we see two similar posts so dear friends be original and be special. Happy mylotting!

No, I don't copy any one else. Have started discussions that were very close, because I didn't notice the other one. I have checked my spelling with another but that's all.
I would think that if you agreed with someone you would just say " ditto" or say you couldn't put it better ( saw someone do that once) much better than copying.

Copying someone else discussion is like stealing something from someone. I will never do that. Also, I think it is a waste of time. Why don't they just use the time to think of some new and interesting topic? I think the main reason a person will copy other's discussion is just for the sake of getting high response and earn more. They can just simply copy the discussion with high response rate and expect to get the equivalent high response. Usually I will only start a new discussion when I really got something that require opinion or advice from MyLotters.

HELLO THERE,i never copy others discussions, is not my style, i have a lot of ideas, and i have my own style in posting, even i am not perfect in English language. but seems that to copy others discussions, is something what others make.
Any way is not nice, i am sure that is more better to be original, people will trust in you and will apreciate this.

Yeah.....many times I've spotted that kind of plagiarism posts. Especially, when I noticed it displayed academic type of writing with perfect English module. I traced it through http://plagiarismchecker.com and I got all of it resources and origination on the internet. I just enjoy big laughs and sometimes almost ROFL.
