Can you really earn a 6 figure income from google adwords?

I thought adwords was for advertisers and not publishers or affiliates? Was just asking cuz there seems to be alot of one page sites telling you that they earn about $100,000 or more just for manipulating google adwords. Please fill me in guys cuz i can't think of how i would be able to earn with adwords. I know adsense cuz i'm earning a lil from displaying their ads on my blog but i find it impossible to be able to earn with adwords. What am i missing?
