Swine Flu, situation deteriorating!!!

Well, I guess everyone has heard about this so called swine flu now. It's not on the news as much as it used to be but I would like to know your thoughts on this subject. I personally am quite concerned though as I'm one of the people that they refer to as having underlying health conditions, I have asthma. Are you worried about this situation? I don't look at things as all doom and gloom and the authorities seem to be in control but are they telling us everything? I heard yesterday on Sky News that the first person had died from Swine Flu and that this individual did not have any underlying health conditions. I guess this swine flu episode has just taken a major twist! Anyway, I live in London and they are saying that, by the end of August we could be reaching approximately 100,000 new cases per day, that sounds serious. Well, what's your take on this and how are things in your part of the world? Andrew

As for me here in the Philippines, we took this case too exaggerating. The most alarming here is not this swine flu but the Dengue Fever because until now it is more deadlier than swine flu....our government just popularized this swine flu to cover up some important political matters which should be the issue...Cheers

That sounds quite rough, we have nothing as bad as that out here in London. I guess there's always somewhere where things are far worse. Thanks. Andrew

I am afraid because I am pregnant now. In my place almost less than a hundred cases were confirm so it very risky to go out. Where it is originally came from? I cant imagine that amount of people who has that flu. We should take care.

That's quite a lot of cases. There also seem to be a lot of new cases in the area that I live. Well, I'm focusing on the positive then and hopefully things will turn out ok and the government will sort this out with a vaccine or something. Andrew

Hello stranger, long time no hear! Hope you are well and swinefluless LOL! Well when you hear of a celebrity getting the dreaded swine flu then I think personally it hits home even more, because these flus are certainly not prejudiced against even film stars, I heard that Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint has got swine flu yet apparently he still turned up at the premiere party, hmmmmph now what message is that sending out? To be honest, I haven't or will not let swine flu affect me in any way, it certainly hasn't changed my lifestyle. Yes it is an ongoing problem and apparently it thrives better in colder weathers. But whatever happened to bird flu? Do we hear about bird flu any more? I think once we get swine flu under control and I believe we will in a year or so they'll be another flu, elephant flu possibly? I am not making a joke out of a sensitive situation I am trying to add a little humour in these troubling times, you need humour to get through this crazy world my friend.

Hi wolfie, it's great to hear from you again and yes, I have been away from My Lot for quite a while now, I guess I have been busy with other things but I'm glad that I have the opportunity to check in now though. Well, it's good that you have a positive attitude regarding this swine flu. I'm pretty easy going myself except by the fact that I have this wretched asthma. Anyway, I have noticed that My Lot has been really slow loading today, it must be My Lot because my computer is very fast as well as my Internet connection and all the other sites that I have visited today have loaded almost instantly. I hope that this isn't going to be a regular occurance with My Lot. Anyway, I guess I'm going to try and check in on a more regular basis. Nice to talk to you again wolfie and take care. Andrew

I believe it is good to practice good health precautions like good nutrition, adequate sleep and wash your hands. Avoid crowds when possible. If you have underlying health conditions use your medications. I think anyone benefits from nasal saline rinses or sprays several times a day as it washes out pollens and bacteria and viruses. I hear that a vaccine is almost ready. Regular flu is more likely to kill you than H1N1 so get your regular flu shot yearly. Repeating, wash your hands, scrub them, dry them. Regular soap will do. Get some sunshine, but no sunburns. I do not really worry about it though.

Hi Garden, I believe in good nutrition myself and I'm a regular cyclist, would you believe that, what with my asthma and so forth! Anyway, I agree with the current advice about the washing of hands and sneezing into a hanky and so forth. I'm hoping that this thing will disappear real soon. Andrew

Hi Andrew, I am not sure that the swine flu is as bad as the fear of getting it. I believe that the media really made too much of it at the beginning. I fear the panic that would break out more than I fear the flu itself. Getting back to your discussion though, Fall is the time when many flues really get started so we may know more in a few months. I just hope the media tones it down, it's one thing to be informed and quite another to have to listen to it constantly. Blessings.

I guess that's the same with anything, the media play a big part in making a story sound extremely serious. Well, I'm hoping that the whole thing will disappear in time, I would like to come through this without a scratch if possible!! Andrew

Hi decent and congratulations and a big thank you for giving me your first response at My Lot. Well, it sounds like you are going through quite a time of it out there in Saudi Arabia. I try not to get too concerned myself, I'm only a little worried by the fact that I have had asthma all my life and I'm hoping that I am one of the lucky ones and that I escape this swine flu altogether.
