We all have them, those seemingly little things that really annoy us. For instance, modern packaging bugs the daylights out of me. I feel that a miniature saw would be helpful getting into it! Trying to work while my partner has the TV going distracts me to no end. And I hate it if a fly or mosquito gets inside the house and just won't leave me alone! What are some of your pet peeves? I too have a few peeves. I hate hearing someone say, "for someone and I." For is a preposition, therefore, it should be, "for someone and me." I also hate it when I'm trying to read and someone turns on the television in the room I'm in. We have televisions all over the house. Why can't they watch one of the others?

Hello Bestboy :) Good grammar is something I value, too. And while there are some slips most of us make, total mutilation of it really annoys me, too. And yes, I hate trying to read or write and have someone just turn on the TV or their music full blast! Thank you for sharing your peeves :) Karen

I would have to say there are three major pet peeves that I have... Number one; when my other half is using some kind of electrics versus spending a little quality time with me, while my son is sleeping... Having to have to wait until he is done with what ever is so flipping important that I have to wait!! One day he does not realize this but I wont be waiting.. I will be going... I am more important that something that you can plug into the wall... Granted we all need some down time... I like that... it is just that he is gone most of the time; out on the road... so whats wrong with shutting everything off and just having each others company; talking about issues that we need to talk about face to face and not over the phone or internet... Second major pet peeve; when we are on the phone and my son is not listening to me... he is in the background laughing.. how in the heck is that suppose to help the situation.. Is that suppose to make me calm down or something? When my son is getting on my last nerve.. No it just makes it worst, then he wonders why I hang the phone up or just set it down, in another room until I take care of the situation... The third; I guess its an expectation.. which should not be there... because that just sets me up for disappointment.. Anyways.. When I am really excited about something and want to share.. what the heck is wrong with looking at it?? I do the same thing for others..

Hi Sjvenden. I think those things are hurtful, too. No one likes to feel invisible in any relationship. It is not only hurtful, but disrespectful and bad for one's self-esteem. In that respect, I have been there, and my heart goes out to you. Karen

Oh, modern packaging annoys me, too! It just seems impossible to get into anything these days. I can kinda understand WHY they do it, but come on! Isn't there an easier and better way of going about it? But anyway... some of my pet peeves... Well, I seriously can't stand it when people eat and chew with their mouth open. I can't stand the smacking noise whether it's food or gum. Doesn't matter, I just can't stand the noise. And it's ten times worse when it's something crunchy! OMG!!! It makes me want to hit someone. I also can't stand it when people drag their feet when they walk. Oh, and poor grammar and spelling can get to me, too. Especially when there's just no excuse for it. And those are just a few of my pet peeves. I have more, but I think I'll leave it at that. LOL

Oh, it still bugs me even if it's a kid. I have a friend who always asks me to push her kid around the store when we go shopping together. There was one time he was eating popcorn while I was pushing him around. I asked him if he could please close his mouth while eating and he opened his mouth to show me his mouth full of chewed popcorn. This is another pet peeve of mine that just pisses me off. Someone KNOWS something annoys you and they do it for the sole purpose of annoying you. I had a co-worker like that and I wanted to punch him! I can't stand people like that. They (especially this co-worker) have absolutely NO respect for others.

Hi PoisonGirl :) Yes, I absolutely hate modern packaging, however good a reason there may be for it! And "chonking" of food or gum bugs the daylights out of me, too. If it were a child, it would be easier to understand, and just say please, chew with your mouth closed, but adults don't want to hear that. And yup, poor grammar and spelling are a pet peeve we share lol. Thank you for expressing yours! Karen

Nobody is perfect, I have some pet peeves as well. I get annoy when someone didn't ask permission to over, use or get my things. I wouldn't mind lending my things if the person will ask permission to borrow it. I also don't like it when someone borrows my things and don't give it back. If they borrow it, they should give it back. If they want to have that certain things, they should have told me in first hand.

Hi Sophie. What a cute avatar image you have :) Those things bother me also. I believe it was Shakespear who said: neither a lender nor a borrower be. I can understand his wisdom in saying that. I've leant far too often only never to see those things again. Thank for telling us about your pet peeves :) Karen

Hi Karen! When I am reading something I prefer that it should be calm and peaceful atmosphere, however, when someone in the family switches on the TV with high volume, I feel irritated. I wish that those who wants to enjoy TV programmes or music should listen in a low volume so that others should not feel disturbed. Secondly, those drivers who drive their vehicles mindless and carelessly on the busy roads, makes me irritated. I wish that they should be immediately caught by the traffic cops and may be sent to some training school so that they could behave properly while driving on the roads.

Hi Deepak. Than you find it distracting, a disturbance, as I do. And yes, careless drivers are a danger to themselves and other who may be in their path! I wish the police could catch them all, too. Karen

hi peaceful as you may know I am in a retirement center. well we get calls to take phone calls and the person announcing will get too close to the microphone so you hear blah blah you are wanted on the phone, line two, well fine if you could only decipher what the first two words were that she called. the part about wanted on the phone does no good if the person she is trying to call does not hear it. for some reason in the visitors lounge some of the residents turn the volumn up on the television so it is blaring then the clerk tries to call someone for whatever reason and half the time the person called cannot hear his or her name because the tv is so loud it drowns out the call. those really annoy me. You sometimes think someone has called you because half of the words sound like your first or last name but when you go downstairs,no its not for you at all. another annoyance is those packages you were telling us about. I usually give up and get my trusty old scissors out and cut the item out of the package. my strips for my glucometer come in little packages with a too tight strip across the opening so I just cut it open with the scissors. no use fighting that stuff.

Hi Hatley :) Ack! That phone thing would be annoying, especially having to go so far just to find out it wasn't for you after all. And yes, I have this wonderful old pair of red-handled scissors I use to "rescue" everything from its packaging. I wouldn't know what to do without them. That stuff drives me bonkers! Karen

There is a lot of things that annoy me. I think my biggest pet peeves are my kids saying WHY, after I tell them no. It's to a point I have told them that WHY is a dirty word in my house. My husband keeping the tv to loud when I'm trying to sleep. Especially during the school year, when I have to get up at 6:15. I could go on and on about my pet peeves, but I don't have enough time, plus I don't want to become a annoyance by writing a book about it.

LOL Chertsy. I think many of us could write at least a small book on life's little and big annoyances! Yours do ring a bell with me, too. The why...my kids used to ask that, I'd answer, and they'd respond with another "but why??" And loud TVs...ack! Maybe your husband would consider using head phones?? Karen

Hello :) Men who think housework is just for females are still in somewhat of an abundance, and that's a shame. They will live in a wallow if ever on their own! I also like a clean house and would be mortified to allow mine to go as some people do. It doesn't just look and smell bad...but it is a fire risk and a health risk! Have a most beautiful day. Karen

Pet peeves...those annoyances that really seem not worth mentioning but still...they get on your nerves? I work in the public...a convenience store...next to a bar...got tons of pet peeves! Scratch ticket people who just make it a hobby to buy a few go out to their car and scratch and return...over & over...very annoying. I really do have a lot of little peeves but honestly they aren't peeving at me tonight. I had the night off from work and went to an awesome barbecue and enjoyed a great day & evening with some very cool people so I really am at a loss to really come up with any meaningful complaints on the world.

My biggest pet peeve is what I call the empty box scenario. This is when someone uses the last of something (or just about the last of something-leaving to little to be useful) and then puts the empty container back. For example eating the last bit of cereal leaving a few bits and crumbs in the box, and then putting the box back one the shelf. What invariably happens is I then want a bowl of that cereal and end up with crumbs in a bowl. Hello, just throw the box away! Don't tease me like that. I think this is a slight variation of the empty toilet paper roll.

Hi Uicbear. I love the Ziggy avatar, by the way :) Ack! Empty boxex or bags in the cupboard or a milk or juice carton in the fridge...that bothers me, too. I love the "don't tease me like that" expression. It is a letdown, though lol. Karen

Hi Karen...Oh My God I have so many pet peeves I don't think anything could possibly be left out. I have OCD and it just about drives me crazy if I get a fly in the house and I cannot rest or relax until it has either went back outside by it's on power or by mine and the fly swatter. Another thing that is really bad for me is to have someone come in my house and touch or move my things from where I have them. Even if it is sat back down exactly as it was I can still tell it has been picked up, and I have to pick it up and put it where I had it exactly. This is a very bad disorder to have because it really elinates you from people and you exist with your own company because that is the only time you are happy. So as you see I have alot of pet peeves and I wish I didn't have. flutterby

Hi Flutter...I know others with OCD and it makes things harder, for sure. I have a lot of pet peeves myself, and yes, I don't like people pawing over things and not putting them back! As long as we accept ourselves, peeves and all, well that counts more than what others might think. Best wishes to you :) Karen

Modern packaging can be a nightmare, lol. Especially when you want to open it in the car but you don't have anything to open it with. I finally got smart and left a pair of scissors in the glove box. Doesn't matter though because even with tools it seems it is so easy to hurt yourself getting it open. :) Inconsiderate and bad mannered people drive me insane. Bad drivers are also on the list. People who have cell phones glued to their ears without pause even when driving or checking out. People who don't pick up their dog poo in public places. Rude salespeople. People who go through the drive thru and order the whole menu or don't know what to order and take an hour just to figure it out. When people walk as slowly as possible across the crosswalk because they love making you wait for them. I walk a lot but always try to clear a crosswalk as fast as I can rather than at snail's speed. When there are a group of people who are chatting and using curse words when my children, and sometimes other children, are around and they know they are there but continue to use bad language regardless.

Hello Kcoregon. I think we need to invent a miniature chain saw specifically geared to getting into modern packaging lol. Aside from that, I think most of our pet peeves boil down to people who are rude or just plain inconsiderate of others. Not to mention the drivers, etc., who are downright dangerous! I share much of what you've mentioned as pet peeves of my own. Karen

I have to admit Karen those same things bug me like crazy as well . What i seriously cant stand and drives me insane when you go to the grocery store and there is ppl in the isle that are talking about who knows what blocking the whole isle with the baskets and they look at u as if You are the one that did something wrong.Kinda makes you feel like saying sorry to interupt your very important conversation:\. Another is when you try to be nice and hold the door open for someone and the whole city decides to walk through so you end up standing there which seems like 4 ever for everyone lol those are the things that really drive me mad.lol

Hi there Peaceful Woman! One of my pet peeves is those writings which uses sticky caps or something like ThIs. I mean, I don't see the point why one would do that. I understand better those who right in BLOCK or all lowercase. Sticky caps just hurt my eyes.

Hi PeacefulWmn9! I have a lot of pet peeves... Yeah, I have a very long list. LOL! But, let me share some of that long list. For one, I really hate drivers who tailgate. There are many of them here in our place. Most of them are cab drivers. Another pet peeve I have are people who thinks that the world owe them big time that they are so inconsiderate and insensitive to the needs of others.

People calling me 'hun' or referring to 'hubby'; drivers who tailgate; kids eating their nose-pickings; petrol being priced at 104.99pence a litre... why not just 105p and be done with it!; dog poo; "celebrities" who are actually 'nobodies'; tea/coffee stains on surfaces; wet toilet seats... hmm yeah, I sound like one of the 'Grumpy Old Women' - I'm quite a cheerful, easy-going peron really...

I have many pet peeves. Too many, in fact. :) One of my biggest pet peeves, however, is when people don't put their grocery carts away. They just leave them in the middle of the parking lot. Really, people! Is it so hard to walk down the lane a little bit and put the cart where it is supposed to go? It really irks me when people don't put them away even when they are parked next to the stall. It drives me crazy! And no, I have never worked at any place where I have had to retrieve carts. It just bothers me when people are so lazy because the carts become an inconvenience to others.

I can't stand it when my last name is misspelled in any way, shape, or form. Mispronounce it all you want, but don't you dare put a capital 'D' and a small 'L' in place of the small 'D' and capital 'L' or I will haunt you. Another one of my pet peeves is when someone misspells the easiest words, especially if the misspelling is intentional, as in text-speak. Example: "Know" is spelled with a 'w' at the end, folks...it's not spelled "kno" or even (I love this one) "no". That drives me up the wall. Some other pet peeves: people talking on their cell phones while driving, people talking and laughing in places that are supposed to be quiet (e.g., library, church, movies), someone interrupting me while I'm reading...I could go on, but I won't. lol

LOL, I think most of us could go "on and on." I am a bit of a spelling fanatic myself. I wish especially writers would learn certain basics: to, two, too--or you're vs your. Things like that. And then I am humbled when I see my own typos or mistakes! I appreciate you sharing your pet peeves! Karen
