What if America turned into a dictatorship and the democracy was just a farce to cover up what was really going on? How would that affect Americans?? would you read this if it were creative fiction?

I'm worried enough about us turning in to a democracy.

Historically, every government that has been immensely powerful has eventually fallen or at least lost a great deal of its control and rebounded into itself. Rome, China, Britain...eventually, it will happen to America too.

We are a constitutional federal republic, not a democracy. The best way I ever saw democracy defined was "two wolves and a sheep voting on whats for dinner"

Than why call it a democracy when it ain't one in the first place? kinda stupid if you ask me. The one place that I found Democracy to actually work is with the Pirates. They used it well. I think we should be more like them! at least, when it comes to politics. America is still a young country, even China, Rome, Britian had standing Governments for hundreds of years. It was the infighting that took Rome down, China is still china, you just have different Dynasty's taking themselves down. I don't count people like Ghangis Con or Constantine - because Constantine came from someplace other than Rome...was it Gall....no, his father faught in Gall, which was Britain....hmmmm......anyway..... and Constantine was the first to name Christianity the Roman Religion. Funny how that can't be done these days, hahahaha, All them other religions would kill any leader who did that. *lol*

It would probably be more like a history book than a fiction book. Since I'm not really into history, I probably wouldn't read it. The way I see it, there's not much point in writing fiction about things that are actually happening in real life.

I'm not writing a history book, I am writing fiction. What if the President of the United States all of a sudden disbanned the House and Congress and used his Czars as a replacement. Who would fight him? would anyone fight him? would it become a Nazi sort of thing, or what?

I might read it but, if you're seriously going to write something along this line you really do need to have a better understanding of what this country is so that you can convincingly tell a tale of how it would be taken down. xfahctor is very knowledgeable in this area so reading some of his discussions might be helpful to you. We are a republic of individual states...the federal government works for us...so it wouldn't be as simple as the president kicking everyone out of the House and Senate and declaring that the Czars are in charge. The states are independent of the federal government and that includes the president.

Oh yeah, I know that the premise si way too simple and that it would take a lot of research to pull it off even to go beyond convincing. I start with a simple plot point, then I research and decide what is the natural thing to do. It's going to be hard and I have had many false starts to it. I just got to get into the frame of mind and go from there. The 'take over' would happen very slowly, with a lot of manipulation of the people and voting and what have you. I can make up my own acorn people and use them however. Most of the characters will come along as I have a job for them to do in the plot. That's how I usually start out and then develope from there. Yeah, its too simple. *lol* Thank you, I do find xfahctor to be very knowledgable.
