Have you ever hang up your phone on those soliciting calls?

Don't you feel it is rude to hang up people on the phone right before they start their speech? Especially toward those soliciting calls? I done it many times, while I was enjoying my nice meal at home. Those unstop phone calls keep on disturbing me, and drive me mad at that moment. I pick up the phone, and right before the lady start her pitching on particular plan on credit card, I just hang it up. I felt bad sometimes, but I was too tired of refusing and explaining my situation over and over again. Would you do the same?

I have a house phone for this exact reason. We hardly use house phone at all. My girl friend & I have a cell phone & my daughter is only 9 so she has no business being alone somewhere without an access to a phone. That being said, We usually have our house phone's ringer turned off so we don't even know if someone's calling until the answering mahcine picks up. I have my answering machine to "outgoing message only" setting so they can't even leave a message. And the outgoing message says, "If you're getting this message, you're not important to me. But it's ok, I'm sure there's somebody who loves you. Keep trying random numbers till you find someone who's willing to talk to you!"

Oh, I don't feel bad when I hang up on a solicitor. Especially if they're calling at a bad time. I don't appreciate the calls and if I want a certain product or whatever, then I'll go looking for it. Basically a "don't come to me, I'll come to you" sort of plan. However, I'm on the "Do Not Call" list and I learned something. If you get their company name and/or phone number, you can report them and they get the gift of a hefty fine! Buwhahahaha! So, that's what I do now. I try to get the name and number of the company calling me and if/when I do get the information, then I report them and hope they get that hefty fine. I don't feel bad about that, either! Especially if it's that stupid company that keeps calling me about the insurance on the car that I don't have. I HATE these types of calls!

My telephone is for my use, not the use of strangers who think it's their right to intrude on my life and sell me something that I don't want or need. We can turn your question around -- Is it rude for people who don't even know you to interrupt you in whatever you are doing in order to pursue their own motives? Would we put up with someone walking into our house and doing that? It's the same thing, as far as I'm concerned.
As soon as I know that the caller is a telemarketer, I hang up. Most of those calls are prerecorded now, but even when it's a live person, I'm not going to waste me time with them.

Well I know it gets a bit annoying when they call you at a wrong time, but then I think that they are doing just another job.....they too have stomachs to feed......so I be a little polite with them.......If I have time, I will listen to what they have to offer and will turn it down saying I am not really interested but thanks for the information, If I DON'T have time then I simply say I am not interested, I say that twice and most of them get a clue that I am not really interested.....
And if they don't then I hang up, and sometimes even be rude, Because I follow the "You co-operate with me, and I do the same for you" thing.......
That's my way of looking at it !!!!

They give a feel like they are one of the most important calls and when we attend the call its nothing but some one telling about their damn offers i get so angry that sometimes i even scold them

Yeah, they are really annoying right? Usually, I try my best to politely tell them that I'm busy or not interested with what they're trying to offer me. But if they disregard what I'm saying and still talks like there's no tomorrow, then I won't hesitate to hang up on them. I just hate people who waste my time.

My hubby and I go a step further, we let our answering machine do the work for us, while we eat or whatever. Dinner time is our time, and we don't like interruptions. If it's a relative on the phone, we just call them back when we're done eating. It's okay to hang up on solicitors, I used to do it all the time before we bought our wonderful answering machine. We ignore polsters too. It's great!
