Have you forgotten how to laugh?

Laughter they say is the best medicine but even healthy people stop laughing nowadays. Even though there has been considerable material progress and people are busy accumulating wealth, there is a sense of discontentment and unhappiness everywhere. People today go for laughter therapy because they have forgotten how to laugh. How sad? Though people still go around shaking hands with each other but their faces have no smiles. Unhappiness is clearly painted on everyone's faces I met today. Laughter is one of the happiest and most healthy activities known to the human race and is the shortest distance between two people. It is also a life enhancer and a great gift, one that can be given easily and often. One that always make me roll into laughter are those funny jokes, funny pictures that my friends send to my email everyday. Not only do they keep me laughing but it keeps friendship alive and connected. So do not let those funny jokes you receive in your emails fade away. Share them with others. They draw out the laughing gases from you and keep the blues away. If you have not had a good laugh today, now is the time to make that happen.

No, certainly not in our family. With our one-year old daughter learning new things everyday and showing it off to us (my hubby and I), it's hard not to. She never fails to make us laugh with her antics and just generally how she discovers things around her. Lately I noticed that hubby and I have lesser things to argue about. I think it's because of Svet (our daughter) making us laugh everyday. Even during the start of a potential argument, she would just give us her biggest smile or do one of her newly-learned tricks and the tension between Paul (hubby) and I would completely dissolve. I thank our daughter everyday for not only making us laugh, but for bringing us that blissful joy, something that I have never felt in a long time.

I think happiness makes people more beautiful too... when you see someone smile and you know it's fake, it's just not the same as seeing someone who is truly happy. I grew up in a place where people don't pretend to be happy to see you, so it's very easy for me to tell when someone is not honest. sad to say, now most people are not carrying honest smiles on their faces... i personally love laughing, and sometimes i laugh so hard that my abdomen hurts... i make my friends laugh too... one of them usually starts hiccuping after she hangs out with me for a few hours lol

Hi Zandi! You are right that laughter is the best medicine and we should not miss a single opportunity to laugh. When I open newspaper in the morning, I see funny cartoons and jokes at the first instance. Whenever I hear a new joke, I love to share the same with my friends. Same is the case with e-mails, if I receive a funny one, I immediately forward it to my friends. If you have some funny and laughable mails, please forward those to me.

You are right, I don't laugh as much as I use to, I don't know why. I guess I'm just out of the habit. It's not that I don't find things funny it's just that they don't seem as funny. I promise to try to do better.

That is the purpose of those email jokes that we received from friends. They keep us laughing when nothing else can uplift our burdened mind and heart. Laughter sure put sunshine back to our life and bridge the relationship of distance friends. Your jokes are commendable. Very hilarious and interesting.

You're right, even at the most trouble times we still need to laugh a bit. We need not be grumpy all the time, it is aging and pulls the gravity of facial features when we sulk more than we laugh.

Laughing is a part of my every day life.. I share the same views as you.. There was a time in my life were I didn't laugh or even smile.. I had no reason too.. and I did not see the benefit of putting on a clown face to make people think I was happy.. when I was truly miserable... Now I laugh at least once a day, it makes life some much sweeter and easier to deal with every day life.. I have also found that it makes people want to be around me; instead of hiding... Did not realize what a negative attitude could project to others...

Laughter is indeed the best medicine of all. And i could say i do laugh my heart out, whenever i feel. Actually i do show all my emotions clearly to everyone.. hehe. You know when in school, i got scolded so many times for laughing (or smiling) in betwen lectures, and getting caught by the professor...

Having just come from a discussion about crying, zandi, I felt it only fitting that I chime in on your discussion about laughter. While it is true that people are finding less and less to smile or laugh about in these tough times, we should all take some time out of our day to just laugh. I subscribe to a couple of newsletters that deliver some laughs to my email inbox each day. Also, I receive the occasional amusing email from friends. I cannot imagine what life would be like if there was no laughter. I hope that everyone will find something to make them laugh each and every day.

Yes, laughter is the best medicine. And I have never forgoteten how to laugh. But many people nowadays do not laugh because life is full of stress and that is why people are imserable. However, I strongly feel that laughter can destroy or at least, greatly reduce the stress in life and thus laughter can pave the way for us to live a life that is really worth living.

i agree with this that with the increase in standard of living of people tension is also increasing at the same rate . now every person in the family have his personal mobile. expenses are increasing at a rapid rate . this makes the person forgot to laugh.
