How do you get out of credit card debt?

ive been paying on this one credit card my husband has and i feel like im doing all this paying and its not helping at all! See when he got home from korea, the army owed him money, but the messed up and thought he owed them, so they stopped paying him for 6 months. in order to afford to lived he had to get a credit card. he had it up to 5000 dollars, but ive gotten it down to 3200. its like i keep paying 300 here and 500 there, and they boost the interest up and the next thing you know im right back where i started! i called and asked if i could get a settlement and they said they dont offer that. any suggestions?

You are doing well to reduce it, it takes a long time to get back once you get behind. Here is an article that may help.
