Don't you hate to wait at a long line?

On Thursday, I took my girlfriend out to the mall shopping. At the boutique store, there was a long line of people, but my girlfriend insisted that she wanted to get that blouse. So, we get in line. The problem wasn't too many people shopping there at the moment; it was that the cashiers didn't want to expedite the process. There was only one cashier actually checking items, while the other one was talking to another regular customer on the counter with chatter and laughter. I should definitely report her to her manager. The line was taking about 30 minutes on waiting, because only one person is working. Don't you hate to wait in the long line, because the employee of that store wasn't working to help the customers?

Are you sure the employee was able to help at the moment? Sometimes at certain stores, an employee's register freezes up.. In this situation they have to wait anywhere from 10-15 minutes for it to reboot. A customer watching this might ask why the employee isn't logging onto another register to quicken things up.. And the answer is that all the money is still stuck in the rebooting register. I work as a cashier and no joke, this happened to me yesterday while there was a rush of people. All of a sudden there was a large line and I could do nothing to help.. So why not chat? :)

Well, you definitely had some bad customer service and it would be well within your rights as a customer to complain to a manager. I personally hate waiting in line, and to be honest, I probably would have left the store without the blouse. Now when I am grocery shopping or getting something that I need, I will wait and try to focus on something else. When I have to wait it out, I remind myself that I'm not in a hurry and I don't really have to be anywhere. But I have to actively work to keep myself from getting frustrated. It's the little things that can really get to you.

This happened to me also.I went shopping with my daughter. There were only two people waiting online but what made me mad was the cashier was talking to the other customer who paid before me.It happened that they were friends.I almost reported here to the manager but i just don't want her to lose her job because of me.

I am impatient in terms of falling in line and especially when I am on rush. I like the cashier to punch all the goods faster and I hate store clerks who move slower. store owners should employ more cashier to serve their customers and this is scenario is observe during rush hours. The customers usually flock before lunch and in the evening after work hours end. Many people go to shopping mall to buy their groceries every last day of the weekends. Some people unwind with their friends and watch movies. i also find myself in long line when their is a blockbuster movies. I cannot force the cashier to make a quick change of cash as some are older and very careful to commit mistakes. I do not like people to make a quick wise move and insist on inserting themselves among the other people in line. I really get annoy and even some will ask you to replace you as they are in hurry and giving many alibi just to outcast you. I am really annoy by this, hopefully everybody is serve and just accept to fall in line than never able to buy the things you really need.

I don't like waiting in line and would definitely avoid it if possible. But for your situation, I think it is not whether we hate to wait or not but whether we should just complain to the manager that a staff is not doing her job nicely causing all the delays. Sadly though, there are so many people not doing their job nicely that they are affecting their customers so much and yet they are still in their position where those more responsible, more talented are out of their jobs.

Waiting in line doesn't really bother me too much. I'm pretty good at entertaining myself. Sometimes I get annoyed when I'm late for something, or if I've been walking around all day or something. I do, however, definitely get annoyed when someone is being lazy at work and making my day harder. When I'm at work, I'm on my feet and running around the whole time, and things fall apart if I just stop working to chat with someone. Sometimes I wish that other people with jobs like that would understand and come to work expecting to actually work.

If the place is really busy and all the staff got their hands full, I wouldn't mind waiting as there is nothing we could do but wait. If the people that are supposed to work and ease the situation is taking their sweet time chatting and fooling around instead of doing what they are supposed to, I would get freaking mad and create a small ruckus there to voice my dissatisfaction.

It depends if i don't have anymore place to go and what my mood was.I easily get irritated on situation like this.I would go to other store if i could find better stuffs that i like there.Or could wait but never try to go back to that store again.

Yes I hate to wait so long time, especially when I see a loafing casher chatting that way.

I agree :( it happened to me many time The cashier acts slow, cold and does not care what you would say or do!!! You can go to her next time and ask for a number :) she might process things faster I would wait if I want what I'm buying but sometimes I dont - so what? I can not buy it from somewhere else?
