Since the discovery of electricity, the world we live in has changed so much. Almost all things around us are powered by eletricity. From the homes we live in, appliances, and even to the smallest things we use like watches all powered by electricity. Have you ever thought of how your live will be if ever electricity is absent, where u can only use a torch to light your path while going home. A candle to shed light on your dinner with your family, and the streets in your neighborhood are lit up by street lamps fuels by coconut oil. Imagine your world with no music from your Ipod, component, dvd player and others. No more watching of your late night shows and favorite soap operas. The absence of internet and computers and your breathtaking Iphone or Nokia cellphones. Would your world turn upside down?. Would it be hard for you to live that way, like the prehistoric times?. What do you think?. Spare some of your thoughts and lets do some mindblowing conversation of what our lives would be without electricity.

it would be definitely different but I do not think my world would turn upside down. we experience a lot of power outages in my country and we have figured a way to do things when there is no electricity. It is really not that bad after all. It is rather fun at times and most importantly such situations bring people together specially within the family. I would surely miss the internet and keeping in touch with people however I think it is kinda nice to have a break from everything that is making us just run around to get things done. It is more like going camping for a verryyyy long time

Reading the responses from this dicussion makes me laugh. I have lived more than once without electricity. It is a nice thing to have but we can all survive without it just fine. Sure no computer, no television, no hot running water, no electric lights or cooking or refrigeration, or cellphones or gas pumps working but we could all do without it if need. The pioneer's did fine without it. We have become soft and complacant.
First I would take all my meat and food from the freezer and since I have propane I would can the meat or dry it like jerky and store it in airtight containers. Or I could cook it up and with thick layers of fat put it in large containers to keep for months and it is still good. The same for the veggies and fruit, dry or can them.
If not propane I have a wood stove I can cook on just fine and heat water on to wash cloths with and bath in etc. I would get water from the creek across the road or one of the springs near my home. I would candles, kerosene or white gas lanterns. I would read and play board games and do crafts and things and do as much as I could during day light hours both working and playing.
I would probably go to bed earlier and get more sleep. I could wash clothes with a metal wash plunger and wash board or other means and hang them to dry on the clothes line I already use. Life would be a lot simpler than it is now. I would have to write letters instead of use the internet and email. We can live without out it.
We have been spoiled with the luxury of electricity. For heat I would burn firewood or cones etc and if need animal dung like the pioneer's did. We might have to go back to using horses, wagons, buggies and shanks ponies ( walk ) and bicycles. But we would survive those who know how.

Almost everything I touch depends on electricity to run, and I cannot imagine a day without it. Although it would be good to have it turned off from time to time, so I can focus more on the essentials, i.e., playing with my daughter, talking to hubby and the three of us generally having a good time WITHOUT the use of electricity. Otherwise, it is an important part of my daily life that I simply cannot afford to live without.

Life without electricity would be like having living in a little hellon earth. Aside from the absence of the things/services you mentioned above we would have no fridge,no iron, no washing machines.
I guess for lighting we would all have to resort to candles or parafin lamps, both of which can be harmful to us.
My life would be a living misery without electricity.

it would be difficult to say the least. i would have to wash clothes and dishes by hand and not be able to blow dry my hair or watch tv or use my beloved computer and on and on. knowing what we have with electricity and all its conveniences makes it hard to do without it but people like the amish who do not have it do not know what they are missing so i say they are fine with not having it. you don't know what you have until it is gone in many cases.

That's terriable. Without electricity, Modern civilization would not be exist at all. We would live in limited place. It is very difficult for anyone to travel all over his motherland, more less go abroad. Obtaining updated information from anyplace out of his location would be very difficult too. Information exchange and international communication may be impossiable. We would be lonely again. I do not dare to imagine what would my life be without electricity. Fortunately, the situation will never be happened. Thank God!

Electricity is considered as one of the most important essential services required in any country. Without this everything will come to a standstill such as transport, monvement of trains, working of hospitals and all the equipments operating in todays modern world. However, using of other alternative sources do give little bit of relief but do not act as a permanenet solution.

I'm not sure what I would do without electricity, frankly! I spend a lot of time on my computer doing research, programming, working, etc. Plus, fluorescent lights are extremely important, and candles aren't that great at lighting up rooms. It would be terrible!
