Do you ever go through fear over things? Being out in crowds of people make me tense up really bad. Anxiety I have tried to fight for years. What do you do to fight the fear or fears you go through? I have forced myself to go outside in crowds but I tense up so I have to take medication to help me out.

Okay, this works for me and you may think this is a little crazy, but I quote a scripture that says "God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mine." We all fear from time to time it is a part of a safety mechanism that we all should have but when it goes beyond what most people experience, maybe it is time to see someone like maybe a behavioral psychologist or someone else qualified to help figure out why you are afraid.

Know it doesn't sound crazy. I use to quote that scripture all the time. You are right I need t open my bible back up to that scripture. God sees us through everything rather good or bad. I use to go to a psychologist but i stopped going because I couldn't afford it. Now I think I have only one option. Gods word and the scripture you mentioned. Thank you and God bless.

Thank you very much for those sites of Joyce Myer. I use to watch her all the time. She is a good preacher. Have you heard of Kenneth Copeland and Jessie Duplantis before? They are good preachers to. Jessie is a pretty funny preacher if you need laughter in your life.

Here are some possible things that have helped me over the years. There are many resources on the internet, this is just a sample:

When you go to the following page, cursor down the page and you will find many articles and some videos to watch. This is where I started over ten years ago and it has helped me in every area of my life. http://www.joycemeyer.org/OurMinistries/EverydayAnswers/everydayanswers.htm
If these URLs are not your cup of tea, there are many more to choose from for free. Depending on where you are located, there are also behavior psychologists that the US government may possibly pay for you to see. I am not sure how you go about this but there may be more options than you realize.

hi there,
I have a fear of bridges. I really don't have to travel through but when I do, I get anxieous and nervous. I have never taken any medication because, I don't like the idea of taking medication for something that its only in my mind. Have you tried to control it just by thinking and remembering that in the past same situation nothing happened? Just to see what happens?
But you know the saying, its better said then done. I wish you luck in your decision and hopefully you can find the help you are looking for here.

I don't like taking medication either but mine has gotten to the point to where it gets out of control with my breathing and then I feel like I am going to hit the ground. I have tried to control this for many years. I still try to control it and I try to back of my medication and take it when I really need to. But sometimes it don't happen the way I want it to. Thank you for your help and answering my post. Have a great day.

I write lists, I look very closely at the fear and try to understand if it's justified or not. if not, then I look at what it is costing me again making lists, somehow when I put it down on paper it seems more manageable. After all it's your mind that is in charge.

The mind can do very strange things to the body if you let it. And it has done some wacky things to mine at times. Sometimes my mind runs away from me and trying to put everything back in order is the hard part. I hate dealing with fearful things. I use to make myself do things I was afraid of. Like flying in a plane. Writing things down sounds like a good start. Thank you. Have a great day.

I have never tried this personally but i have heard that facing your fears can work to get rid of them. Really they are all in your mind, so wouldnt you need to train yourself to not be afraid of these things. I suppose one thing you could do is to face your fear and just to think to yourself "what am i afraid of here?", and then to try to find out what exactly it is that you are afraid of. Once you have found it, you may just need to think to yourself that it is not really that bad at all, and just try and become 'friends' with this fear instead of like being 'enemies' with it.
hope this helped
