How To Dispel A Nasty Rumor

As many MyLotters know someone has spread a nasty false rumor that MyLot is ceasing to pay it's members here after August 1st. None....and I repeat NONE of us have gotten any MyLot alerts mentioning this. If it were true, we would have gotten such an alert directly from MyLot itself. According to the person who started the rumor...he/she has so-called proof via a newspaper article..oh, yeah, like sure. The news media is going to write an article about delayed payments, that members of the admin are vacationing at Martinique and such nonsensical crap. Wake up folks the news media couldn't care less about this (too busy still talking about Michael Jackson...heehee)
Anyway...I have my own verified news article to share with you....And guess what??? OMG---it's ALL about me!!!

lol Yeah, it's fake. As you know, it's super super easy to photoshop stuff.
People believe the strangest things though. I'd like to know how MyLot would get into a newspaper article. There's nothing news breaking about MyLot ever!

I knew earlier today there was a bunch of chatter about the updates not happening but was just browsing other discussions (I very seldom do that, friends keep me too busy :) and there is a bunch of 'junk' going on - very little positive. I just have to believe there is something serious going on with mylot for all this to be going on and no word from admin.... Like their main office blew up or something. Server can't be down we wouldn't be able to access the site.
LOL - there I just started a new rumor :(
I got it all the admin were at the main office which is at a different location than the main server. One of the trolls found out where the undisclosed office location was and bombed it. No one in the real world knows about mylot so when the office exploded they couldn't report it. Think we need to start browsing newspaper reports for 'mysterious office explosions'.

Did you get an alert? MyLot stated it's definitely NOT shutting down or ceasing payments--so yup...was just a stupid rumor started by a person with nothing better to do

I'm surprised you didn't get an alert...I noticed one when I first came on today and then mylot did a discussion about everything which is here

No...I did not get an alert...not yet but I just don't take these things to seriously. Even if they were to stop paying, I'd still keep in tabs with the friends that i've made on here....like you and a few others. I wouldn't just disappear from here. I've been on sites like this that don't pay. It's mostly about the friends and interacting. love it. The troll that started this rumor had just opened an account so it was more than a little obvious.

You are absolutely right. In this digital age, anyone can fake a newspaper clipping online. People should be extra careful when it comes to the source of their information or else they will end up in some kind of trouble.

Having read the original post myself, pyewacket, I admit that at first it did sound credible. After reading further, however, I came to the conclusion that myLot has always previously informed us about any impending changes to the site, and I found it odd that only one member would have been privy to news that was so important. So, I dismissed the post entirely. I'm still at a loss as to why any myLot member would post such a thing(maybe to get a huge number of responses?), but who can know these things. I know that what you say about fake headlines is true because I frequent a site that allows you to make up your own headlines.

Why would anyone want to spread such rumors? I guess that is one reason that I don't look at the news at all!!! It is mostly a bunch of lies and those things that are true are so depressing that I don't want to hear about them anyway. Thanks for bringing up the topic.

Yeah, I've read all that discussions with that certain person saying he can prove it and worrying some newbies, why don't this person just go and get lost somewhere else as this person is not wanted. Congrats on your big win, lol!! you can buy a big house and a house keeper so you won't have to do the housework, can I have a loan? hehehe.

You know, I have seen discussions about that discussion, but I have yet to see the original discussion. Guess I have not missed much, huh? If MyLot were to stop paying, I would just go somewhere else that pays. You certainly will not find me on sites that do not. Now let me go look at that article that is all about you.

Haha, great news article! I hadn't heard the rumor, but if I had I wouldn't have believed it since, like you said, I hadn't heard anything from MyLot. But I'm sure a lot of people believe everything they read, so it's good that you posted this!

ohh i knew it was fake. Now atleast those who think that news was real will realize it. I don't understand why is he doing such things. I just hope mylot will take action as soon as possible.
And about the news article i hope someday it will be true hehe.

Hi pyewacket,
Why in the world would anybody even spread such a thing if its not true ? How would it benefit them ? I just got down answering to a post about a gentleman who does numerology & such . Well the NASTY comment that was made to him was so un called for . He may have thought it was a little kid ,but I don't think so . U might have all read it .
