Does it help when it comes to the difference between using cards and cash?

I control the family budget. And what I found out so far as to me personally, is
that when I use cash, the spending is always over-budget when when I use cards,
especially a debit card preloaded with a fixed monthly amount, I can control all
my spending. What is your experience with this?
For example, whenever I use cash, there is the temptation to spend more. Say I buy a chicken and my budget is 10 rinngit and the stall owner weighs it and says 15 ringgit
I feel somewhat caught between a deep hole and a hard place, especialy when all the
chickens cost more or less the amount tendered. This always happens at the wet market and price tags become irrelevant there. But when I shop at the supermarket and hypermarkets and I use a debit card, I will be able to look at a pre-priced tag and
sometimes say say a ringgit or two as well.
