why doesn't the boot menu appear on my psp 3004 with custom firmware 5.0m33-6?

i was try to install an application on the psp and it told me to go to the boot menu by pressing 'r' when i turn on the psp and nothing happens. help me guys, please urgent!

Make sure that you have turned off PSP properly, after you turned off your PSP hold dorn the R, while turning on your PSP this will bring you to custom firmware menu.
