Why we fear of being laid off ???

Many of us fear of being laid offa and i wonder the employer is taking advantage of this fact...

Owing to recession most of us fear of being laid, but if we are truly useful for the organisation then it is no use fearing, if we have skill then naturally we do get something even if we are laid off. I feel what we fear in life comes in front so we should try to remove this fear by confidence.
