I want to learn a programming language, my purpose is to build applications such as small games and daily tools, not to build system software and not to build websites. In this case which language do you recommend to me, C++, Java, Ruby, D, VB, or anything else?

Oh, I think what you said is right. Because I played some flash games recently.
C++ is also very known as a high level language and also a base language. I heard Ruby and D language recently, they say it is very easy to learn and use, but I am not sure if it is a good language to me if I want to be a professional programmer.

Not too sure about D for games, I've used it for debugging (DTracing) and it's pretty good. I'm a Java lover and it makes my life easier for most of the stuffs, I'm not too happy with JavaFX though. I think flash is still a much better option than JavaFX. .. and for system programming, 'C' is my choice.

I have been teaching myself some programming languages. Those languages are C++, Java, and recently C#. These three languages share so much similarity in syntax and once you know one you can easily grasp the others.
C# is gaining popularity because of its great support from Microsoft via the Visual Studio suite which considered the best IDE available up to date.
I would like to share and learn from anyone who are interested in learning C#.

Some programmers say, '' don't ask about the best one.'' because it depends on how are going to use it and master it.
