Domi - 2 year old Male Rottie
We have a 2 year old Rottie, his name is Domi, and he is great with our family especially the kids. We tried to really socialize him well and does really good with most people that come to the house. Ours is anything but a big bad tough dog, he is actually a big baby, who tries to sit on my lap when I am on the floor. I will deifnately get another someday.

Wow!!! Rotts are very special breeds..i own a rott named "BOUNCY" who has amazing personality..his head held so high and his massive body makes him and the owner feel so proud... he always has a special attention and utmost love at home.. he is one among our family..never let alone.. being very aggresssive and ferocious to strangers his friendliness and possessiveness to family members is eye catching.. Rotts are amazing to own!!!

I never owned a Rottweiler, and I don't think I ever will because of their reputation that their groomed to be fighters, so I don't want to tempt fate. But, since you seem to have a way with these type of dogs, your either very smart, very lucky or both.

Rottie are not breed to be fighters, the breed is actually breed to be a working dog, bad people train them to be fighters, and it is unfortunate that such a great family dog has to have such a bad rap due to bad dog owners

I have know anybody to own a violent Rottie, they are great family pets. What kind of experience did you have with one to have such a a negative opinion?

It's the owner. There are so many mean people in the world and they train them to be mean. Our two rotties had Therapy dog titles which meant they went to old age homes and schools and helped people learn about them and bring joy. Don't hate the dog, hate the owner who makes the dog mean.

No, I don´t have a rottweiler, I think they are dangerous, no? I don´t like them, I prefer little dogs, but anyway, rottweilers have got a nice face!

It really is about the owner and training. A lot of owners want to say they have a big bad dog which is not right. There are lots of small dogs that bite but since they don't cause as much damage people look the other way.

AH!!!!!!!ª! ever so true. Thank you!!!! I have a Rott by my side, named Stetson. Got him when he was 5 month, now is 8 years old... an Angel. Even people who do not like dogs end by living Stetson. He is well trained, educated, listen, has personality, loves other dogs, cats, horses... without making a fuss, ask before he does anything, just look at kids throwing a ball in the air although he is dying to go 'n play with them, has never ever made a mess indoor (even in the RV). I have had many other breeds before, but I must the Rotts are special. Will never have anything else. Though I think I was lucky with Stetson, but no doubt, owners understanding of dog's needs and world is crutial. Too many people have no clue and still own dogs, its scary.... not the dogs, the owners... A dog owner's licence, that is what I would propose if i was in politics...

Dusty, our first rottie was given to us by the breeder because she was the 'runt'. i'll never forget, my boyfriend and i were living in an apartment at the time and werent allowed pets and we had discussed getting a dog when we bought a house. i was at work one evening and he called and said, "umm.....we have a dog." and i was like, "excuse me?!?" and he repeated himself so i asked what kind of dog this was and he said, " umm... it's a brown and black dog." so i said, "okay.... is it a german shepard?" "no" "a mutt?" "No" rottweiler being the farthest thing from my mind, so when i saw her i couldnt believe it!!! she was small enough that i could carry her like a little baby, but i swore that i'd be hitching a wagon to this beast one day!!! i have never met such a stubborn and headstrong soul but ive never felt such unconditional and undying love either. she won over the hearts of everyone she met as we would take her with us every where we went, literally. everywhere! and it was so amazing to me how intelligent she was, like she was almost human. she definetly was our "child" and a part of the family. i miss her every day and shes been gone a little over 4 years now. i am so thankfull that we adopted our boy tiny as a companion for her about a year before she passed away as i dont think i would have wanted any other dog after her. now i wouldnt think of not having a rotten rottie in my life! i have three now ( tiny, the oldest is a purebred and junior and baby girl are mixes ) all rescues and i wouldnt trade them for a million dollars!!

It really is all about the owner. Because of their "tough dog image" a lot of bad people own them. Some people also get rottweilers because they feel they need protection but don't train the dog. Ours went to training school, received their Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog Titles. They were both very sweet. We belonged to a club and there would be 30-40 rottweilers there each week and we didn't have any problems. Unfortunately, I have met owners who want to say they have the meanest dog or toughest :( No one should want that. Thanks for responding!

Hi! I have never owned one, but I know people who have. I understand that they are wonderful dogs, receive training well, and are very loyal to their families.

They are! Hopefully one day you will have the joy of owning a rottweiler. They do require a lot training when small but it is all worth it when they grow up.

I have owned rotties most of my life and have been showing them for the past five years. They are a phenomenal breed!!! Their loyalty is second to none in my opinion. I currently own 4 rotties now - three girls and one boy. They are my four legged children!

No.I don 't have this one.Long time ago, i wanted to have this Rottweiler, but the rest of family member didn't agree with me so I didn't get the Rottweiler. I don't know why maybe they were afraid of big dog, SO we just choose the smaller dog as our pet that time.

Right now as I am sitting at my computer my 8 year old rottweiler, Gus, is lying at my feet. She was rescued from a shelter at 3 years old. Gus is a wonderful dog. Very well behaved. We have attended many training classes that help keep her socialized. She has earned her Canine Good Neighbour certificate. And she just loves to use her nose for tracking. Most people who are afraid of dogs just love Gus as it seems she can sense their nervousness and all she does is lie nearby and hope for a pet.

I don't have Rottweilers. I think they're very sweet though. I have American Pit Bull Terriers. Unfortunately both breeds have an unnecessary bad rep. I would think about getting a Rott as well, but they're a little bigger than I like.

I have never owned a full rottie. But I did have a mix. Half rottie and half lab. She was very friendly and protective as well. She had two litter of pups in her life time. She was all black in color.

Our dog - Our Rottweiler
We own a rottweiler and she is the sweetest dog. I have two little girls and she is great with them. I think they have a false reputation for being mean. Mine is anything but mean. She is a big part of our family.

I have a pure rott female and a mixed male. He's fixed. I have owned one other. My brother has owned 2 and my father has owned one. I love the breed! I liked shepherds until my brother got his rott. It was all over! :) My female rott pulls my 3 year old around on her sled. We're losing our snow now but it was so cute over the winter. Once I figure out how to post pic's I'll post some of them together. Storm (female rott) is less than 2 years and my Strider (male) is almost 5. He's acting like an old man. :) You are right, it is all about the training. My male I was in college so I didn't take the time to socialize him and we have to watch him around strangers. Once he gets to know someone he's great. He has never attacked anyone though. With my female rott I'm a sahm so I had time to socialize her and she loves people. I wouldn't recommend anyone to walk up and try to grab my daughter though.
