Are there certain jobs you won't do?

So, people said that our immigrants will do all the dirty jobs, such as cleaning maid; factory workers; and even dish washers. They came here in a hope to make a better living. To survive in a new environment, they have to keep on working. I admire their hard - working spirit, and they are willing to do the jobs many native Americans unwilling to do.
I just wonder, what type of jobs are you unwilling to do? Dirty works such as construction worker; waiters; etc.......?

You sound like a snob being a waiter is not a dirty job. A dirty job is like a dustbin man. At this moment in time and with the current economic climate in the UK with the amount of jobs decreasing i would willingly do any job i got offered as long as it was legal and got paid.

There are many jobs which I would be unwilling to do and not only because they might involve getting dirty. Some jobs might also mean that I could end up smelling bad and I would not like this at all. So I would definitely not do a job like climbing into sewers as I could get dirty and also smell if I did this nasty job.

Yeah , there are people who just have to take whatever job they can find. Among the immigrants, there are highly educated professional people too. Yet, they have to start off with any job they get as a jumping stone, and from there they can proceed on to their specialized fields.

There are only a few jobs that I simply couldn't do. I wouldn't mind cleaning toilets, emptying the garbage bins or washing dishes if I had to, but I could never work as a butcher and I couldn't have a job that involved animal testing or something of that kind. I have had many different jobs in my life and some of them have definately been more interesting than others, but I am not very picky and I am not afraid to take a "dirty" job if I have to.

I don´t understend the concept of "dirty job". As far as I know, real jobs are not dirty. Probably I would speak of a dirty job to be a call girl. But then, that is not what I call a job either. That is selling the body and not doing a task to earn our living.
Construction work, cleaning ladies and maids, waiters etc are honorable jobs. some are underpaid but not dirty.
I am not a US resident but I have traveled far and wide into the country. And there´s poverty at the US and there are underpaid americans. Even in movies you see the actors playing the roles of people doing those "dirty jobs".
I think that when poverty hits a home there´s no job that a person won´t do if they have to give food to their young. The United States has been a land of promise for many people for many years. This recesion is showing that many things that were taken for granted should be revised.
Let us hope that this will teach many to respect the less wealthy.
Take care.
