Twitter , I dont get it?

I dont understand why Twitter is so great , there is so much fame about it.
As far as i know all its about is posting updates , adding friends and having followers. It seems to be such a big hit.
Someone explain to me why its so great.

I feel the same way about Facebook...I find it rather boring. All everyone does is send one liners about what they do each day, and evenings. I really don't care about knowing their every move. After 3 days in Facebook, I deleted my account. I thought it more of an aggravation to have to go into it everyday.

Facebook is not as bad. Theres way more too it than just posting updates. True on the part about know everything about someone , seriously why do i want to know.
Its just a big social network , find friends , join useless groups...
Its twitter i dont get, seriously some explain whats great about it.
