I'm watching a show on the bible and they just said that 55% of people believe that the bible is Gods words without error and should be followed completely. Do you agree or disagree with the statement and why?

I believe the bible is God's word - yes - 'followed completely' is tricky w/ the harsher statements in the old testament, but I do believe in following God's word.

Yes i think that most people do, there is just no way you could follow it completely to a "T".

I place all religious texts into the same category. Just as the Greeks created stories to explain the world around them, I believe that the bible or any other holy text was written with the knowledge and understanding of the times in which they were written. This doesn't mean that I don't believe in god, a higher power, or whatever you wish to call it; I just don't believe them to be the absolute truth. Even if these texts were of devine origin, I don't think human beings are capable of recording or interpreting precisely what is/was meant.

Yes i agree with that, i mean i can believe that god may have spoken to someone, however people interpert things differently and there is no way i believe that it is 100% gods word.

Whether you agree or disagree, BIBLE is God's word and should be followed to escape from the punishment.Bible clealy says that God is merciful.GOD is good. But there is a limit beyong which He may not tolerate the sins of people like terrorism, killing, immoral life...oh all those you know.

So you think that people who do not follow what the bible says will be punished??? What about Buddists, hindus, muslims, etc, you think they will all be punished because they do not follow your bible??? Do you really think a GOD would let that happen? I personally think there is only one god, however he/she appears to people in different ways, to some as GOD, to others as Budda, and so on, i think that basically every ones version of god has the same message, be good to yourself, be good to others, and i will always be good to you. Just my opinion though.

I do believe the Bible is God's word, but I also believe things got lost or changed in translation such as the verse that says "It'll be easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven." the word wasn't camle but cable, but the idea is the same...

I personally don't believe that everything in the bible should be taken literally. The bible was written by man not God. It is a mans interptation of what God told him, and lets face it we have all played that game where you tell someone a story and then the next person tells it and so on and by the time it gets back to you it is totally different. I think if we live life good and moral, no killing people , no stealing etc. then we got a good chance of going somewhere nice. I am wiccan so i do believe a little different than most. Thank so much for your reply.

no I think through mis interpretation of the book and through time if it was ever the word of Gord has lost the true meaning which every story loses over times and interpretations.

I absolutely believe that Christians should follow the bible.. word for word..if of course they can get the original scrolls and translate them. It is impossible to follow writings that say things such as "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth".. and then later say "vengence is mine sayeth the lord, i will repay".. I suppose you have to decide if you are going to follow the old testament or the new.. and that would be a bit more helpful, Jesus is the new testament and the life according to King James Macho version of the bible that he had dictated to the monks to have written to his accord. If I were a Christian I would try to follow the commandments.. good words to live by, and follow more of what Jesus taught.. love, respect, honor, truth.."greater LOVE hath no man than he lay down his life for his friend" so yes, follow it, what you interpret is on you, but when it comes down to it.. you have to be able to live with yourself and the decisions you have made. And, sorry, you aren't puting off killing your child because God told you to.. Abraham may have been willing, but not I. Judgement calls, thats what they are, and what you will answer to.. Blessed Be. Rev. Moore
