Yes, I finally caved in! After seeing that Evony game ad EVERYWHERE for days now, I finally gave in and signed up to check it out. Guess what? I'm hooked already! Now it's way past my bedtime and I'm still sitting here building my little town and following my little quests. I can already see where this is heading. Sleep deprivation! Are you playing multi player RPGs online? Have you ever got hooked on a game?

I've been playing Turbines "Asheron's Call" since it opened, about January 2000. I used to play almost everyday, several hours a day, but I just don't have the time anymore. I actually prefer playing a pencil and paper fantasy RPG with my boyfriend. We play every Saturday, usually about 10 hours :) Online games are cool, but it just isn't the same :) Rolling those dice, roleplaying, there isn't anything like it! So, I'm addicted to gaming, just not the online kind. We have developed our own game over a period of about 20 years. We started with ADnD, and just went with it. MY boyfriend introduced me to gaming, and I still love it :)

My hubby hates board games of any kind. Usually because I beat him at them lol. So I have to get my gaming fix on the pc.

I'm not talking about a board game. RPG's are played with a set of rules, but it's totally different. The rules delineate the campaign world, and how to create your characters. You use dice to determine the outcomes of events, such as: did you make that jump? Were you able to remove a trap on a door? There was an explosion, did my character survive..and if so, how much damage did my character take? I swing my sword at the monster, did I hit it? The campagin world is the setting where your character exists, lives, adventures, etc. The gamemaster either writes the scenarios themselves, or gets pre-made adventures. RPG's are closer to a continuous story that unfolds, where your character(s) are the heroes or villians. As your character adventures, they gain experience, and improve. They can take more damage, hit better, cast nastier spells, etc.

Since late 2001/early 2002, I have been addicted to Blacknova Traders (BNT for short), & other games that have spawned from it. Quite a few of these site have come & gone, & I have even run some of the games. It's probably the first web-based tradewar game that used to be played on BBS's before web sites & such became popular. I have not played those games because I was not really online from my house until late 1999 (not counting university & job).

I hope this one stays around, it seems to be fun. I think I will try world of warcraft eventually, since I like all the warcraft games. I love RPG games of any kind.
