I think the best way to entertain kids of age 5 to 10 is story telling. At this age kids will be very fond of listening to stories. You can also take them out and get some toys for them. You can get kids story books and rhymes for them.
If you want to entertain them more, please learn some magic. It will be very helpful.
What do you think are the best ways of entertaining kids of age 5 - 10?

Every child or kid has its own line of interests so it's good to locate or target first their interests then from that we could choose a way to entertain them. I have a brother who do not want a story telling but he is fun of observing what are usually the oldies are doing. He loves to ask and observe. Though some of the kids here are also interested in games. They are being fun of contest and of course with prizes like candies and toys. This is so far I observe here in our place. As I live in the village. It may varies maybe to the environment.

Yes, you are right. It is a valuable point. Even though the kids of the same group have some common characteristics and interests, each kid is differnt in nature and the interests of each kid varies. A parent can understand the interests of his or her kid easily and act according to that. It will be better than blindly going for story telling or taking them out. Thanks for the response.

My kids aged 10 and 5 are much intrested in artwork and spend very long hours in drawing ,colouring, cutting and pasteing. They enjoy their work and create different things which are nice to exhibit in showcases. They feel very proud when i keep them in the showcase.but after they finish their work my house looks as much messy and the floor with sticky glue,no words to explain.still i allow them to do as they love it.

It is good to hear that you are open minded and allow kids to do what they want to. I am sure that your kids are lucky and they are enjoying the freedom. At the same time you can ask them to keep the house clean. You can instruct them to clean the house once they are done with their art work. You can also ask the kids to help you in cleaning the house. Anyway, you are treating them well and who knows they will become great artists in future.

what we have experience with our kid who is now 6 years old, he loves to watch TV. so what we do is to buy lots of educational movies and shows in CDs and let him watch all day. he loves barny and others. that actually when he was younger as in 2 or 3 years old. and now, he tops his classes. those educational cds made our kid brighter. while he enjoys watching the shows, he got entertained.

Take them to joy ride outside and play with them in the ground. If possible take them to a nearby picnic spot. They will love to be outside the house and enjoying new environments.Telling them stories is not something new to them. You can teach them new indoor games or train them to make some dolls or help them learn to make various creatures by folding papers. One should be a great entertainer to charm the kids of that age group.Cheers!

Yes, I agree with you. Children will like taking them out for shopping and see different people other than the usual shcool and house. They also ejoy having food and icecream with their parents from oustisde resturants. I have read somewhere that a parent has to become a kid and enjoy the time with them giving them good company. Thanks for the reponse.

I would say the best way to entertain a kid is just to spend time with them and perhaps ask them what they want to do. I know when i was little I liked playing football at the park and also baseball with my brothers and my dad. I do agree that story telling should be done but just done make that a top priority remember they are little kids and their attention span is very small. But just take little steps and work your way into it. Much of the things I know of today are from my parents telling me stories and also reading lots of scientific books when I was younger.

Yes, you are right. I think you have seen it in a general concept. Yes, kids enjoy the time the parents spend with them and it is very essential for the good mental growth of kids. When I was a kid, my dad used to tell me a lot of stories, more than my dad, my grand father used to tell me a lot of stories, especially about world classics, which I still have in mind.
Through stories of good morals, you can build good qualities in kids like love, faithfullness, kindness, etc. Reding moral stories also does the same, but I think it won't be that effective as listening to stories. Thanks for the response.

Im telling you if you need a way to entertain 5-10 year olds just turn on spongebob or givem a nice video game to play. If your 9 or 10 I really dont think you still like story telling maybe younger kids but when you hit that age you are not a big fan of story telling.

In this centrury, kids are attaining maturity and mental growth very quick compared to olden times. Yes, you are right, story telling won't be interesting for a 9 or 10 year old kid. Video game is a good optioin. I also think they will be interested in nice cartoon movies.

Stories are a great activity. that is why I think that DVD watching is also good., at the local library kids can check out all kinds of movies and NICK, DISNEY and other popular things for free.. Also, community recreational center offer lots of coll events during the summer and all month. Going outdoors and swimming sure are neat for kids at that age. Joining sports teams and doing other group things during the rest of the year may be fun for them too. When I was that age, I got involved with a civic group called Campfire Boys and Girls, muck like the Boyscouts.. Each summer day and summer camps were a fun way to get out of the house, away from my parents for a week or two. This organization taught me a good reasoning skill and helped me to be productive.. I was a member from age 5 to age 13.. Check out what is your home town...
