I have certificate of computer education, web page designing, Accounting. I was suppose to go for java certification but same time recession hit to IT jobs majorly so I left that thought as of now.
Certificates surely add up some impression on resume and interviewer but it will give you many challenges too then. Having a degree or certificates is just to get in to job but real quality shows when you work and deal with daily problems.

I have a lot of certificates such as: certification of Attendance for Basic Life Support (Community CPR for Lay Rescuers), certificate of Participation during the seminar on Stress management,Prevention and Management of Renal Disease,11 areas of core Competencies as a standard for nursing Practice, Diabetes Management, Safe Nursing Practice, Basic Concepts in Geriatric Nursing, Ethico-Legal Nursing, Pre-employment Seminar for local Applicants,Intravenous therapy seminar, and Certification of Civic Welfare training Service. Actually this has a big impact or a big help in applying for a job. Some of the employers are so impress if they saw that you are an active participants of any activities in your organization.

Hi there!Aside from a diploma, I also have certificates on short courses and seminars and trainings that I have attended. To name a few, I have a certificate for baking courses such as Basic Cakes and Advanced Baking. I also have computer related ones like Microsoft Office Applications and PC Troubleshooting and Networking and other stuff like Leadership Training.
I think it is important to keep certifications because it will show that you are a professional who have undergone different training in relation to the position that you are applying for. It also shows professionalism in terms of properly handling and presenting necessary documents.

I don't have any certifications at the moment. I do have a degree but most jobs I want require me to be certified so my degree is basically useless without the extra training (certification). I am also in the process of getting my Real Estate License.
I do think certifications help you get a better job. Lot at me, I graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA with honors, have a ton of recommendations from my professors, know the material I learned in school but I will not get hired without a certification. I guess the certification their way of testing what we know. I haven't gotten certified because you have to go back to school to get special training and I just don't have the time. I'm taking the Real Estate courses online so that's doable.

Hi Meenakshi,
Certification adds a value to your Resume, and if you are not having experience then it will be more valuable for you, certifying that you are having the knowledge and capable of working in particular platform. But in general practical knowledge / experience is more important than certification. Many times I have found that while taking interview of any certified person, he don't know the basic and my guess is they have just cleated the exam anyhow. But this is not the case always. One more thing if you have the certification than the expectations will be very high from you. But I do feel that if you have both experience and certification then that is the best combination.

Hi,
I have Diploma in Computer Science. It covers up for Java, C++, HTML and more. But I don't use it in my work. I am a contract teacher and I teach language. Not computer language, English language. Diploma don't stand out much. There's a lot of graduates with degree alone. I need to continue my study to a higher level so I can compete with graduates in my field.
