Hey, its the first time i am going to travel in aeroplane . Obviously, i am happy that i am going to study in new zealand. But i have a problem that i am not much sure that what things i carry with me . I know clothes, etc are allowed but eatables, things used for makeup(hair gel, cream) , etc are allowed? You all are wiser than me and might have travelled by plane many time so please tell me what things i can carry with me?

You are allowed to carry 1 hand luggage (carry on) bag into your seat. The safe size will be 22" x 14" x 9" that can fit into an overhead cabin or under your seat. Things that are NOT ALLOWED inside this carry on bag. 1) Make up/Skin Care, cologne, parfume (gel/liquid) more than 100ml. If less than 100ml, put in the see thru plastic bag, then into Carry On bag! 2) Sharp items like scissor, nail cutter are not allowed. You can put the nail cutter inside the "Check In Luggage" for check-in into the Aeroplane. 3) Drinks / Water are not allowed but some airline do.. This rules are applicable since September 11th case (911) The aeroplane do provide drinks. 4) Not sure about New Zealand, for Australia they Do Not Allowed Milk Related Products, Drinks, Fruits and Plants. You also need to check with your Airline on the Check-In Baggage Allowance. (The maximum weight allowed). Extra they will charge, negotiate with the Airlines. I hope this info will help you, all the best in your studies. You are so lucky! I have not been to New Zealand (the land of the movie Lord of The Ring). It is also one of my dream holiday destination. Good Luck and Take Care!

By the way, the skin care products, make up, you can put inside the "Check-In" Baggage. Not on your hand carry bag if more than 100ml. I managed to bring some biscuits but need to declare at the custom (applicable to Australia, not sure about new Zealand, perhaps you can check with their Embassy, New Zealand Tourism website) Tks and Happy MyLotting! :D

Hi just4youO, You are most welcome. Glad that I can help with some info. I do travel quite a bit in 2006, 2007 & 2008 but not to New Zealand. There are some airports with very strict securities : JFK Airport (New York), Airports in London. You even have to remove your shoes to be scanned. If you are having handphones, keys, watches (metal products), belts, cameras, there will a tray at the scanning area. Just remove and put these items in the tray and be scanned separately. There will be officers to guide you. You will be okay... :) Have a Wonderful Trip and Score for the Best!
