What can you say about the huge numbers of couples that after the long years of being together, they would end up in divorce?

Divorce is a sad thing and it should be a very hard decision to make. I have been married for 8 years this November and I know that marriage is not all fun and games, it is work and it takes dedication. I have seen many marriages fail. Some because it was necisary to get a divorce and some because it would be easyer to get a divorce than it would to actually work through the differences.
I do not think that many people think through the idea of marriage. They see it is a thing to do and not the commitment it really is.
I also think that many couples do not talk about everything that needs to be talked about before they get married. There are many things that you need to know about a person and to do that you have to talk to each other about sensitive topics. Many people want to gloss over these things while they are dating and I think that it is a big mistake that comes back many years later to haunt them.
