Why would you look at a member's personal page?...

I do that from time to time... especially when a member wrote this interesting response... that i just to know something about this person... like how long has this person been a mylot member... the country of origin... or just check out the kind of discussion this persoun starts...
When it comes to my friends... it's to see if they are still active or if they were somewhat banned from mylot... because if one is banned we can no longer access their personal page...
I find the personal page difficult to maneuver... that is why mine is so simple... unlike some members who even have a playlist of songs... and even a youtube video... i wonder how they do that?...
Why would you look at a member's personal page... do you leave a comment when you do?... and did you have a hard time designing your mylot personal page?...

Yes, i do, most specially if the person hasn't made any kind of discussions late. sometimes just to know if they are recently active or had made some comments or response. but lastly, to see if they have made some changes in their profile.

banned/suspended/deleted/canceled what ever, i don't even know what to call it anymore. but one thing for sure, i was fooled to think that my Greeneagle account would ever go back after three months. after that i just gave up and start over. it seems i like this one better, and better maintained good composure and friendship with everyone else.Have a great day!

designing my page took three minutes. tee hee. it was just a couple of banner links to where i earn money from. i chose the colors that i liked and voila! it has been that way since time immemorial. i look at a friend's page to see the last time that they have logged in, and also to send a message or leave a comment if I need to tell them something. photos are another reason why i look at profile pages. when somebody invites me to be a friend, i also check out their profile pages.
and i also don't know how they post song playlists

I might look at a member's page to request their friendship, or if we are already friends to see what discussions they have started in case I may have missed some that I might want to respond to. I may also take a look at a members page to see if they are still an active member of mylot. I'm sure there some other reasons, but I can't think of any more of them at the moment.
No, I usually don't leave comments on my friends pages, though I have in the past and still do once in a blue moon. I know, I'm bad!
I don't have playlists or youtube videos on my page, but I did modify it so it was more like my myspace page. What can I say, I wanted it to stand out! LOL
As far as how to do it, it isn't really all that difficult. If you really want to learn I might be able to help you with some step by step instructions. Just PM and let me know.
Happy mylotting!

I haven't checked your newly overhauled profile page yet... i will do that after i writing this comment... and we have the same reasons for looking at someone else's profile page... and like you... i leave a comment once in a blue moon... i think i should start changing that...
Thanks for the response...

I look at them before deciding whether to accept someone as a myLot friend, and that is about the only time. Sometimes to see when the last time they logged in if someone has been quiet for a long time. I prefer simple pages. Some of them are way too cluttered, and they don't remove offensive remarks that others leave there as spam...which reminds me, I should go take a look to see if mine needs editing.

I usually do it to know more about the person. If the post is pertaining to some region I would like to check out the member's nationality and sometimes it may just be out of keen interest in the profile picture. Mine is also pretty simple and I like it so. So profile pages takes ages to open....

Its nice to have this things specially if that

There are usually two reasons why I would check a members personal page, firstly if someone requests my friendship, then I will go and check their personal page out to see where they come from, and if they have set there page up! No desrespect to those that haven't but sometimes you go to a personal page and there's nothing there! How do you expect to strike up a friendship if you know nothing about them. Secondly if a good friend of mine hasn't been seen around Mylot for some time then I go and check and leave a message for them, although having said that I tend to use the PM function to send them a message to see if they are ok. I have to admit that I don't tend to change my personal page much if at all, I am always worried that if I start to meddle I will lose it! I am a strong believer in if it's not broken don't fix it.

I too look at a member’s profile page. Sometime there are discussions you know which you think of responding to, but have missed out due to various reasons. I keep in mind the person who started the discussion and whenever I come across that user, I’ll invariably go to the profile page to dig out that discussion. In the process, I just look thru…the person’s age, country of residence, interests and so on…and if there are photos, its all the more interesting. I love browsing thru the photos.
My profile page has no design apart from the avatar…I am not a very designing type, in any case, I thought of many colours as background against my white rose but none appealed. White looks best to my unimaginative eyes.

Do you mean you rarely update you profile or personal page?... well, i don't do that often too... but there are times when i feel like just being patient and would play around my profile... but then... after a few tries... i would always give up...
Thanks for the response...

Its actually a good thing to do that, one reason simply being you can know whether the person shares the same interests as yours. Its news for me that some members have videos and playlists uploaded, that is neat!

Yes, very neat indeed... you should check out some... they have really great songs on their playlist... but the main problem is that videos and playlists tend to make the page load a little slower...
Thanks for the response... welcome to mylot and i hope you enjoy every minute of your stay here...

Hello aseretdd,
I seldom check a member's profile unless once in a blue moon, when I check my own profile, I tend to check at some of the members' profile too. Like you, if someone responded to my discussion and I found it quite interesting, I would get excited to know a bit about the respondent. As for my own profile, I don't really bother too much about it and I make it as simple as it could be cause of one reason - I don't know how to make it awesome like some members did!

Same here... i find it difficult to manipulate the colors and other aspects of the personal page... that is why i also keep it as simple as possible... there are times when i envy those who are good at designing the layout... but i just do not have the time and sometime the patience to really make mine very nice...
Thanks for the response...

i think i have almost similar reason like you do.
i like to search on personal page then i can have a vague idea about the member.
i think it's a good design of the website.
we are not like blind fly to post and post, we also like a guest sometimes to visit our friends in their living room.it's my feeling.
i think from our personal page we can know some history and demand of the owner.

Yes, and the personal page also shows a little of the members personality... since some tend to really work their page... it is really nice that we have our own page here... even if a lot of members find it hard to manipulate it...
Thanks for the response...

I check for friend requests. Once I got a rude responce I checked the profile sure enough it was from a kid, I responded to them like a rude kid.
I have also checked the profile to see if my response would be understood ( if I refer to something 15 years or more them I want to know if they would get it or not )
I haven't looked at many and so far have had no trouble with personal page. Haven't left any comments.

Hi there,
I usually check a member's personal page when I found his comments interesting to check out his homepage in case we have something in common. I do check their personal page when they send me an friend request, and I usually check my friends' personal page to find that did they start any discussions that interests me.
I leaves comments to my friends personal page which we were well connected, have a lot of things in common. I dont alway do the designing to my mylot personal page cause what I have now is good enough for me.
Have a nice day mylotting.

I look at a person's profile page when they send me an friend request. I like to look through discussions they've started or responded to to make sure that we actually have somethings in common before I add them as a friend.
I don't do much with my own profile page. I can't even remember the last time I looked at it; never mind edited it. Which means I should probably go check it out... LOL.

I spend a lot of time in the politics section, so I often find it usefull to get a better idea of a persons age and location. People of different ages and locations will have greatly varying points of views, or in many cases, may not have a lot of knowlege on a prticular subject. I try not to disrciminate based on either though. I have seen many young people here who display remarkable intelligence and matureity. I have also seen many older folks who display a great deal of ignorance and imaturity.

Well, some people do not really put their true age on their profile... but some do... like me and most of my friends... but i stay away for politics... since that usually is the start of not so good arguments... some people are just to narrow minded when it comes to respecting the opinion of others...
Thanks for the response..

It really depends on me. I just only look at a member's personal page if I found a discussion that really interests me a lot and would like to comment more on some of his/her discussions.
It is just very easy to put a playlist. You just have to copy the code of your playlist and paste it on your personal page here in myLot, edit mode.

I think i would have to try that... but i don't think i would be keeping it for long because a playlist tend to make the page load very slow... good thing we all have a personal page where we can easily see the discussion started and responded by other members...
Thanks for the response...

I usually look at a person's personal page if they send me a friend request, or if we tend to comment on a lot of the same discussions and I want to send them one. I like getting to know people with interests similar to mine, plus I'll be able to know what discussions they are responding to...most likely, I'll want to respond to them too.
A personal page is somewhat like a social networking profile. If someone sounds interesting by what they write, I get interested in knowing more of what they're like.
I don't know how they post music or videos...I've never really been good with that! :)

Yes, why not... as long as you are quite interested in the discussion that they started... then that is a good enough reason to check out their personal page...
