When you want to be more closer with God, you will go to church, or just try to find a place in your house , just to think, and have your privacy and pray?
Do you think that to go to the church is a must, people who really believe in God must to go to the church every Sunday?
I am one who believe in God, but i don t like to go to the church, i like to find a place where i can pray, and there for me is my church.
The church is the best place where somebody can feel better in a great communion with God?

The last time that I went to a church was with my god parents last year.. I do not believe I have to go to a church to pray, or worship God.. I believe its a building for people to come a hear the word of God through man..(meaning male or female) I believe church is kind of like a school; you can go there and learn good information; but at the same time go there and learn meaningless information.. It depends on the type of church and their true intentions.. I feel that there are some good churches out there.. But there are more and more that are popping up just to raise money, and support by a "blind flock of sheep".. People believe that it is wrong to question the bible, question God, and/or question the pastor/priest, or the pope himself.. My belief is this; I will ask questions because I do not understand something; not out of disrespect.. I have noticed that a lot of churches do not like "free thinkers" or people that really want to understand at a higher level... That is not saying much about that church then.. The purpose of a church is to worship God, and teach their flock about his teachings... IF questions are not asked/answered then how is the flock suppose to believe in what they say is right/true?
So I pray, worship God, and do his work through out my everyday life... I do not go to church to do that...
There is one thing that I have noticed over the years... Some people will sin all week long..then go to church ask for their sins to be forgiven... then when Monday rolls around; yet again doing the same thing... In my opinion that is using God's power of Forgiveness in vain, and being ignorant!! The power of forgiveness is not a toy to just play with; it has meaning and value... Promises to change made on Sunday, are broken on Monday... a cycle of lies and deception..

HI, Ice!
I'm glad that, i my religion, attendance at services is far from mandatory. Almost all the observance are in the home. I do observe, but not as part of the public "rally".

I recently started attending church with my children. We've been going to the Baptist church in our neighbourhood for a few months now. The people there are wonderful. They are all so accepting. They now that I'm as pagan as they come but they still welcome me and accept my children with complete love.
I've kind of grown up anti-church due to things that happened a long time age. It took my daughter to get me to try again. She actually attended the sunday school services at the church for a couple of months before my son and I got involved.
I enjoy the discussions I have with some of the church members. They've definatly opened my eyes to new things.
And gospel music is the bomb. I love to get up with the whole congregation and sing my praises to the creator.

The last time I attended church was about a year ago. I stopped going because my step-sister used that place to gossip and lie about people. I am not saying that to be ugly either, she has destroyed 5 marriages because of her mouth. I loved going there because i felt welcome and they didn't care what you wore or what you looked like. She on the other hand made me feel very uncomfortable, especially when she destroyed the musical worship team with her lies. I just decided that I will read the Bible on my own and pray where I can until I find another church like that one! I don't think God cares where you worship as long as you follow HIS will!

The last time I was able to attend mass was last Sunday. But at the same time I do my bible readings at home and prayers at home. I feel comfortable praying at home because it where I can settle down and relax while I pray. I do not really think that going to church is that necessary, but as a Catholic, I believe that it is my obligation. For me, what's important is that you do your bible readings at the same time you prayers. Those are ways that can bring you closer to God. Other way is listening to religious songs and singing with it through praise and worship.

I was in church with my family last Sunday. I am not really a very religious person but I believe in God and I pray. I think that the church is not the only place where you can communicate with God. People can pray anywhere they are.

Church is a place of having fellowship with fellow church members and getting and giving encouragement to one another. The Bible states in Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” So it is important that we attend church. We attend Sunday mornings and Sunday nights and Wednesday nights for prayer meetings for the adults and then I teach the children. We also need to find a place to be alone every day so we can spend time alone with God and speak to Him and best of all allow Him to speak to us. Thank you for starting this discussion. God bless you!

Hi there, the last time i attend mass was July 5 i missed the mass last sunday because i wake up late. Me and my daughter attend mass in a mall they are doing this mass before opening the mall. I think attending mass every sunday is a must, we all know that we should have time for Jesus and that is Sunday. So we dont have to work for this day and dedicate our time to Jesus. Anyway, whatever is our way how to praise God its ok as long as we know we do good for God. Happy mylotting, hope i can make sense here.

The Bible says to;;;NOT FORSAKE THE GATHERING OF YOURSELVES;;; meaning that it helps our Faith to see other believers...it does not say how often or where, but it does say to get together with other believers...I personally go every Sunday and look forward to seeing others pray and worship...it can be Very Uplifting...I am more of a Pentecostal than anything...I have been filled with the Holy Ghost as the Bible speaks of...with all the signs following...there is nothing better to me than a good HOLY GHOST,SPIRIT FILLED church gathering.......God Bless.......

Most people who are regular church goers, attend their services because they believe it is important to give up an hour a week for God, for all that he has done for us. Secondly, in some religions where the Eucharist is given, they go to church to receive Christ in the way of the Eucharist...by doing so, this sustains them and gives them peace throughout the week. Thirdly, to hear the minister or priest preach from the word of God. Often, we can hear God talking to us thru what they say. And finally, it's important to have the support of your church community, and you could only do that by attending regularly, so we all get to know each other.

The Last time I went to Mass was about last June of this Year. I don't know but some how my faith is becoming shaky again and these are times where i feel Lazy and didn't have to guts to go visit the church. sometimes, if id do i would enp listening to a loud mouth male parish priest who simply explain it the basic way like in a highschool religion class, it's even better in the religion class because they explain it with a real life situation.

I used to go to Church every Sunday, but with small children, it is difficult to do. I spend more time telling them to be quiet and to behave, that I feel like I am not there to be closer to God, but to parent.

you dont need to go to church to be near God because God is everywhere. HE hears and sees everything. just do what you are comfortable in. i used to go to church when i was little, and it is dreadfully boring. i would rather pray to God at home, too. i also meditate with God.
I think most people go to church for a social activity to congregate, and i really dont want to congregate with some of these church people anyway, if you know what i mean.

This is exactly the way I feel. You used the term "Meditate with God". This is the key to a good working one on one relationship with God. We must keep our minds free and open where God can communicate with us any time He wishes. This is the only possible way God can be free to teach and guide us where we can handle any situation that comes up in our lives in a way that He can approve. That personal relationship with God is the only thing that can ever get us where we must go. The last thing we need is some man, or woman, in some church between us and God.

This is a really good discussion because I know God is really important when it comes to everyday life, because God is our father and our creator and without him we would not exist, and I am sure that different people have different ideas when it comes to going to church,I am sure there are some people who go to church every Sunday without missing a service, and then I am sure there are some people who either go to church every once in a while,or they do not go at all,and I know that some people who do not go to church still believe in God while others do not and say he does not exist, and I know that everyone is different and that no two people are the same, and everyone has different ideas, different opinions, and different preferences which the differences make like more fun,and keeps things from getting boring or dull, and I know God exists and I know he created everything and I try to pray everyday, and me and my fiance do not go to church right now,and the last time we went was on Easter last year because we went with my grandparents, and my parents and we both want to get back in church, especially when we have kids, because we want them to believe in God,have a great day, good luck with your life, and all of your mylotting goals, and Happy Posting.

It's not that we have to go to the church everyday or regularly. If we have faith on God and pray from our soul then it does not matter from where we are praying.. God will listen to us. But I think that going to a church and then praying there is much better than praying at homes or so...

icesmile.. let's do a Hi5. I don't go church too, and just find a place to pray in my little room. I only attend church during Christmas & Easter. I was even being labelled as "submarine" Christians. Anyway, for me, I don't really enjoy going to churches, but I do have my little prayer in heart. I think as long as I am close to HIM, and HE knows I adore HIM, that's basically enough.
