Do you easily remember your dreams?

I've been trying to recapture a dream that I had last night, but I can only pick up pieces of it here and there. I've heard that there are methods which can be used to help you to better remember your dreams, but I've never tried any. Do you remember your dreams quite easily, or do you struggle, like myself, to piece them back together long after you awaken? I've heard that if you keep a notepad by your bed it is possible to waken and jot down aspects of your dream, but I have never been successful at waking in the middle of a dream to jot anything down. Most of my dreams are so pleasant that I don't want to risk losing them by taking the time to write them down. Anyway, once I wake up that's usually it. It is then very hard for me to go back to sleep again.

I am very much like you too, easily forget the dreams. I may a may not be right ! I felt that dreams that I had close to the wakeup time comes easy to remember than those of the earlier part of the night. Do you think so too ? May be each is different too.

The most common method to remember dreams is keeping a dream journal. But sometimes it is hard to grab your pen and paper asap upon waking and jotting it down. Besides sometimes dreams are too good to even lift your head off the pillow let alone write them down. Listening to Binaural Beats is another way to not only help you remember your dreams but to be able to 'lucid dream'. Lucid dreaming is when you are aware that you are dreaming, occuring during REM.

I never remember my dreams and I know about the issue of taking note... But sounds strange! I don't want to wake up to write what i remember down! And so the day after I remember only some pieces, but just because I saw/said/did something that brings me to the memory a particular part of what I dreamed :D

Hi worldwise. Some dreams I remember better than others. I guess it just depends on how deep I am in my sleep. Some dreams also seem to go on and on while others change after a short period of time, or so it seems to be that way to me. I've never bothered to write down my dreams. Just being able to remember them is good enough for me. Happy mylotting!

Sometimes I remember my dreams if its a cool dream or a very weird dream. But most of the time I usally end up forgetting about them as soon as I wake up which happens most of the time. But I do remember my dream sometimes even though its not that often I remember my dreams.

Like you, it also affects my emotion in the morning if i dream of something like it is real. The most topic of my dream is about bodies of water and there is always a boat and ship in my dream. When i wake up some of it i recall and some i forget. I could still remember it if i will write it down after i wake up but if it si only scary dream that i wake up instantly, if it is a good dream i don't wake up right away and that i forget the dream when i wake up.

Only if it's a really profound, or super enjoyable dream I can remember them easily. Otherwise, I can only remember parts of my dreams right after I wake up, and forget them as the day goes on.

There is a technique that I was introduced to years ago. I would use it to help solve engineering design problems in my sleep. I stopped using it because I felt it disrupted my sleep too much. You can try it if you like, it goes something like this. Before you go to sleep, get into a state of relaxation. When you feel relaxed, tell yourself that you will wake up after each and every dream. It works on the same principle as a hypnotic suggestion. Later, you can develop more control of the technique; you may want to try to control the type of dreams you want to have and/or limit the times you want to wake up. Suppose you are working on a problem, you may want to tell yourself "I would like to continue to work on this problem, but will only wake up if a 'good' solution comes up". Caution: be careful what you ask to dream about, because the power of suggestion is very strong. I once woke up after having fought the devil: Not recommend, especially if you have a weak heart. When, you wake up after dreaming, write down as much detail as you feel is important. And yes, it helps to have a pen and pad handy. Today, for design problems I use another technique that work just as well, without disrupting my sleep; it's called mediation. Both methods access ones subconscious. Good luck and happy dreams.

I remember most of my good dreams in vivid detail. It is like watching a movie.i once woke in a middle of a dream ,went to the bathroom and picked up where I left off.But there are dreams I can't remember. They are the vague, " It's time to get up"type of dreams. They aren't like a movie .They are more like a bunch of images that don't fit.I wake and I can't remember them.

I rarely remember my dreams. For some reason when i am heavily medicated I remember them better. I have had two bad bumps on the head over the years and I wonder if this doesn't have to do with it. I have read the same about putting a writing tablet near your bed. At this late time though I don't know what would help except maybe hypnotism. Good luck.

That is a good habit. My dream is very boring. I always have dreams of endless calculation. It is meaningless. I am very tired after that. What I can remember is one behavior no detail.

For me, I can remember my dream when I woke up in the morning for a little while, only before I get dressed, and then, after I wash my face and eat some breakfast, I will forget all of my dream, I think maybe you could write down your dream when you just woke up, that is also what one of my friend does. Really very interesting.

I am normally unable to recall my dreams. When I dream of some nice digits I wish I can recall them for the lottery but I cant! The only types of dreams that I am able to recall are when I was half or totally without clothes and another type is when I loose all my teeth. I dont know why, but I kept dreaming those two!

Not all the time, sometimes only bits and pieces only, a vague recollection. But if a dream is so sad like a loved one passing away, I usually remembers it vividly and usually wake up with my eyes soaked with tears.

I dream alot and if I don't talk about it at the same when I wake up I will not remember the following day. There are times when I don't remember, then it actual comes to reality then I said to myself this was what I had dream.

No I do not, the only thing I seem to remember is if it was a good dream or bad dream, there is one Dream that still attacks me at times and has done now for 43 Years, that yes I remember in Detail and it will never leave me, it does appear as often now but it still does at times

I can hardly remember my dreams. It is said dreams are mostly gone unless written down or narrated to another person five minutes after waking up, which I seldom do. However, last night's dream is still in my mind. I saw a lot of dusted second hand shoes in rows. The dream must be related with a discussion I read yesterday at mylot, asking about how many shoes do you have. Dreams are also related with physical status of a person, sometimes hinting potential illness of a certain organ. Do you believe?

i never heared there is a way or method you can remember your dream. personally i do remember my dream easily, but i don't want to remember it. i heared most of people have dream regularly and when they wake up they would forget the dream. it also means they have a good sleep. if dreamer remember most of the dreams it means the dreamer doesn't have a good sleep. so better not remember your dream. to be honest sometimes the dream i had made me upset when i wake up. I totally don't want the dream keep any mark in my mind.

Hi,yes I do remember most of my dreams in the morning and able to revive them also. Infact some dreams I also narrate to my family members who ask me how I am able to remember the dreams. I also remember some which I had dreamt long back. There are dreams which I never want to recollect but still keep running in my mind.

I dont like to have dreams when I sleep as you can not control them or their endings especially when it ends before you are done with it :D LOL Sometimes when I want to remember a dream but cant, it easy to remember it if you tell someone right after you wake up or write it - some dreams are hard to forget although they have so many details.
