I feel like we are under some sort of attack right now but luckily he has responded to the Tamiflu and seems to be making progess as fever is not so high tonight. It came on very suddenly with a very high fever at 4 pm Sunday and then projectile vomitting for 12 hours (which is not a symptom) Tamiflu has been perscribed but I wasn't even allowed to the hospital a neighbour had to go with my driviers licence as proof to get prescription. We are in quarrantine at present so I feel like a kid that has been grounded, not allowed out, no visitors etc. How has swine flu affected you and people close to you? Do you think that your Goverment is doing enough about it?

Oh Ellie I am sorry to hear about J's flu. I hope that he makes a speedy recovery and you all get let out soon!! Is it in his school? We have been worrying about Clare and her trip to the US. Now that we have it here we are waiting for them to start demanding vaccinations before allowing entry. Nothing so far though. I don't know what else the Government can do really. If they have the vaccine and it is available then that's about it. They have done an awareness campaign and the subject seems to be on the news every day. Keep smiling! XXXX

Hi P1kef1sh, Unfortunatelty the week before he got it there were 4 confirmed cases at the school but they didn't send out a letter until late but did ring some parents not all. He is much brighter today but the first 48 hours were really scarey. I am trying to keep smiling but as well as him being ill I have no wages coming in for this week and just heard from the bank that my account was £2.80 short for a direct debit and being charged £38.00 for the privilege so everything has been affected not just our health and I am exhausted being up with him in the night too. The main thing though is that he is on the mend. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Sorry for such late response, but no the school remained opened under Government guidelines so I am sure since Jacob there may have been some more. I have spoken to the bank and higher up and they won't refund although I explained I couldn't get out or have contact with people to do so on my behalf, the money would have been there but for the fact that the council tax took an extra £10 this month on their direct debit. I do belong to moneysavingexpert thanks P1key and once my energy levels are back up I will be writing a letter to someone higher up as I have only ever gone overdrawn and that was once in 2007 and believe it or not it was when Jacob was in hospital and I wasn't on top on things. The main thing though is that he is well again eh! Huggles. Ellie :D

hi Leenie, I seem fine at present but I am not allowed out either or allowed to have anyone round, even the prescription had to be collected from the hospital by a neighbour but with ID from me so they would give it. He is over the worst now but the first 24 hours were horrible and yes I was worried but he does seem to be recovering well now bless. Thanks for your prayers. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Alice,
Typically most flu's can be caught over again if re-exposed. The Swine Flu I'm not sure about but I'd certainly check on that Ellie. Call the pharmacist or the people who quaranteed you.
Good question Alice!! Prayers and Hugsss

Hi Zed, Thanks for your good wishes, my son is five and there were already 4 cases at his primary school so I am guessing from there. They have kept the school open and only informed parents of vulnerable children but his fever has gone now so well on the mend I am pleased to say, it was the first 48 hours that were the main worry time. huggles. Hi Littleowl, I am guessing he got it from school as they neglected to inform parents that there were four cases there until too late. They only phoned the parents of the children that they considered were vulnerable, so I am a bit annoyed at that but Government guidelines say keep the schools open now. Thanks for the healing I could do with some too to keep me from getting it from him. I do still feel that I am under some sort of attack though as this also means I won't get paid for all his time off either as it is him ill not me. They had already run out of liquid suspension so the Tamiflu capsules were presubribed and you probably know yourself how hard it is getting a 5 year old to take tablets so that has been fun. He is well on the mend now though it was the first 48 hours that were the most scary, especially the first night. Huggles. Ellie :D

That really sounds like negligence of the staff at school, surely you can sue them for thst reason and for no earnings, it is ridiculous how they hadn't informed parents til too late...but am glad that Jacob is on the mend wether he has to take tablets or not it his welfare at stake and I would personally blame the school and staff for not being more vigilant in informing you of what was happening..love you lots huggles LoLo xxx

Hi Shelly, I guess with the UK being so much smaller most of the country has many cases but so far there has only been 17 deaths from it and thankfully my son on the mend but trying to get a 5 year old to take tablets was the biggest battle. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Huggles. Ellie :D

That reminded me when my daughter was a kid and she had a throat infection she had to take this big pills that would have made any adult gag, now imagine a kid.
eeek!
I hope your little guy gets well soon, and that your whole family is ok.

hey babes last time you posted you said he was doing alot better i was so surprised when i saw your status on facebook. It must have been awful for you watching him go through that I know how protective you are of him and would have been worried sick (like any good mom). Positive thoughts are being sent to you everyday i am sure jacob will be fine and you'll be running on the beach together in no time. I am starting to hear from quite a few people that live around here that they or a family member are sick with it and are having to stay indoors. It definately something that I wasn't really paying much attention to with everything else going on at the moment I've only really been worrying about whats right here and now but it's definately rearing it's ugly head alot closer to home than i anticipated. love and kisses as always xxx

Hi ellie, sorry to hear that. Be careful not to go much near him as family members have been infected too, Luckily several people here in Malta have recovered from the flu and got back to their normal life. They were prescribe Tamiflu here. Government were taking a good care of this flu as here we are in a small country and it can spread very fast, in fact at first we had 5 cases every day, may be even more and we didn't know about them. At work they brought us disinfectant near the palm reader so after we clock in/out we put disinfectant to clean our hands.
Take care and hope your son will be fine soon.

hey ellie, i'm sorry to hear that. But i think swine flu is just a regular flu. They just branded it to be a killer so that the public will be more aware and will try to avoid it. Here in the Philippines, the schools and some stablishments have their scanner with them to know if you have fever, then they will send you home for a few days so that you won't affect others. My sister is required to bring mask in her class to avoid contracting flu from other students. But i do hope your son will recover as soon as possible. Pray hard and take care of him.Ü

Sorry about your son, but no one in my area has contracted the Swine Flu. If they had, no one was told and it was kept a secret.

OMG Ellie! However did my poor little sweet boy get Swine Flu?
If he has it then there must be other children he was with
that gave it to him! How is my sweety? Tell him his Auntie Opal
says he should feel better soon! And please Ellie you must
take care of yourself not to get it because I am sure that
an adult having it is much worse! I haven't heard much about
it here in my area, not that it means it's gone, but must
mean that it has quieted down a bit! I still feel that it is
running rampant and the Governments are just keeping quiet
now and NO I don't feel that they are doing enough about it
or ever did enough about it! Please take care of yourself
and the little one! Lots of Love and Hugs for you both, Leslie

Hi Opal, I am so so sorry for such a late response, but the good news is that J is fine now and we are both allowed back out again. He caught it from school as they neglected to inform us that there were already cases at his school. Tried to upload a pic of him for you but it wouldn't let me sorry. Computer problems yet again. Love and huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Ellie, totally sorry to hear the swine flu has got your little prince. But I'm glad he's got the treatment and I Pray that he gets well soon. Well so far the swine thing has attacked anyone in my surroundings and it wont attack anyone here because we are children of God and by the stripes of Jesus we are healed so no chance of that happening here. But I'm sure you will beat this in the end and you will go out and tell everyone how God has healed you and your son.
All the best and remember we're here for you and we're praying for you even now! Happy my lotting![](/Content/images/emotes/happy.gif)

The swine flu caused a local event to close down, losing 500,000 $ worth of money. They attempted to try to do the event again last week, but with over 100 degree heat they didnt make any more. Now the event is thinking of closing for good. After 38 years, they cant afford to try again, and the main cause i the swine flu.
