What do I do? My refrigerator went out, hasn't come back yet! We have a freezer full of food and I don't want to lose it. I've got chicken, pork, beef, sausage, fish and deer meat; lots of fresh tomatoes and other vegetables; all kinds of fruits and berries, fresh and wild. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you for your help.

This happened to me and I found a new one for $250 that had some scratches on it. You could get a cooler and put everything on ice but you are likely to spend the same amount of money on ice that you would on a banged up fridge.
If you are not able to purchase a new one you might ask your neighbors if you could store your frozen stuff in their freezerz (mark what is yours) This could help you save some of it.

okkidokitokki------ Thank you for responding. I had found this frig at a thrift store for $76.00 about 3 years ago. I think I'll go to a Rent-A-Center this time and get a new frig. I know it cost allot more but I don't have very good credit and can't put out that much money at one time.
My neighbor is my sister ; so that worked out pretty well. I invited her and my brother-in-law and my daughter and son-in-law to help me cook up a "BIG" B-B-Q and crock pot party. All the dogs, ours and their's, enjoyed it also.
I taught my sister and daughter how to make jelly and jam. We were able to make several quarts of meat sauce out of the tomatoes, hamburger, sausage and some of the vegetables (pureed). We even ground up some of the turkey and chicken to add to it. I now believe in the saying " Necessity is the "Mother" of invention." We made some awsome sauce.
The guys went fishing with the liver and some things I didn't trust. They said they had a ball. Everyone went home with a pretty good larder of meat goodies and jams and jellies. We also had several loafs of banana bread.
We were able to save almost all of the contents of the frig and freezer, thank goodness!!!

wow, you were a very busy woman!! I am glad that you were able to save most all of it. Canning can be a fun way to spend time with family, I am glad that you are teaching it to your daughter, there may be a time when she will nedd that specific talent.

Did the refrigerator quit or did the power go out? Do not open it unless you absolutely have to as that will keep the cold in and will help the freezer to stay colder. Also, if the refrigerator has quit then you need to get another one. Ask a neighbor or friend if you can use some space in theirs or get coolers and a lot of ice and keep the meat in it until you can get to the store and get a frig.

carolscash------- It fried the compressor, I think. The light still worked and the motor kept kicking on; but it didn't cool. If you look at my reply to
the first response you can see what I finally did. Thank you for answering my article.
