My laptop is a Sony Viao and it cost around £350 (GB pounds) about 2 years ago. There were cheapers ones on offer, but I found them to be a bit slow and didn't have enough memory for my video work. I could do with a faster, more powerful one, but that always seems to be the case once I get used to the performance of a machine. - Derek

Most of the ones I've seen here in Toronto, start from about $600.00 dollars to $800.00 dollars and up. Some can start around $1200.00 dollars and up, depending on the brand name.
I have seen some smaller hard-drive ones go for about $300.00...like 40gigs or less.
But these ones of course, usually come with a smaller screen, and a cheaper processor.

I don't have laptop at the moment but I am planning to buy one, maybe neo because that's the cheapest. Durability and longevity of laptop depends on how you use it. Prices vary on different brands, neo, compaq and acer are the cheapest brands in our place.

HEY MISTER! What happened to you?!?! You've been inactive lately!
Anyways, I don't have a laptop right now. I'm using a desktop. Which is probably better for me because if I have a laptop, I'll be doing all this in front of the TV, and then NOTHING will happen! Hahahahaha. Anyways, I HAD a laptop but it got stolen. It was one of those high-end Fujitsu ones. GREAT laptop, definitely worth it. I just hate that it got stolen. Oh well. You're looking for a laptop?

I use an Acer and I bought an Acer for my Wife as well. They both cost around 1000 USD each I think, but to be honest, I don't quite remember. I've always liked Acer laptops and I'm very happy with the ones I've bought. They have a few shortfalls, but overall they have good specs and function well.

i bought an asus laptop 2 years ago from a computer shop at the mall for about $900 and it's running on vista. so far it hasn't given me any problem. i just need to perhaps add on to its memory coz i've got tons of files there and it might decrease its speed soon.
we have recently bought an hp from a sale in their company (normally given to employees) for $900 which normally sells for twice the cost. it's really a good price already coz my cousin bought one last year for $1500 (hp). it was bought so recent that i haven't had the chance to check it out for its functionality. been busy... come to think of it... i haven't even unpacked several items i recently bought like the printer and scanner as well as my juicer. lazy lazy me. -lol-
