In most of the streets near a school, university or even malls, you find them: fish ball vendors!
Fish balls (and the likes, e.g. kikiam and squidballs) and tokneneng (quail eggs often mistakenly called kwek-kwek.) are sure popular with the "masang Pinoy".
unfortunately, I am allergic to fish balls, kikiam and squidballs (hu!hu!) so I get to eat tokneneng instead.
Which one appeals to your tastebuds more?

tokneneng is quail's egg or "itlog ng pugo" in Tagalog, wrapped in some kind of orange flour mixture. It's hard to miss them since almost all of the fishball vendors sell them too.

I like quail eggs with nata drink Was addicted to this when I was in high school (sidegate!). But quail eggs packs more than 5 times (i think) the cholesterol than regular chicken eggs even with that tiny package, aharhar... But who cares, just love them. And squidballs as well and crab siomai

I think the big chicken egg wrapped in orange flour mixture you were referring to is the Kwek-kwek, as defined in one television program I watch. hehe. I don't like them too. I think there is also a version of it whereas what's inside is not a hard boiled chicken egg but something similar to a balot (without the shell of course).

If i really have to choose, I chose tokneneng but I love them both! lol. During my college years, I eat a lot of street foods because they are all around the campus. It makes me miss college a lot because of this. In our we also have a place called the kantunan. We eat Pancit Canton there after eating fishball or tukneneng. Now I know why I succumbed to the Freshman 15 curse of gaining weight. lol! :)
