Can you hear me now? Or when phones REALLY don't work...

Once in awhile my phone will cut out, drop a call, or sound like the caller is underwater. There is this stupid commercial for charter (my phone/internet/cable service) which features a guy talking to his... girlfriend I think and when she says 'I love you', he pretends the phone is cutting out. Anyway, the commercial is DUMB, the phone actually does do this sometimes - unless it's my friends' phones. However, do you ever get accused by other people that you just wanted to get off the phone, that the call wasn't actually jacked up? This has been happening to me lately and I'm not sure why. I don't see the point in continuing a conversation if I can barely hear the other person, and it's not personal. Has this happened to you and do you get targetted as a result? I'm NOT anti-social, I just don't need to be on the phone for an hour when I can only hear at the most oh... one out of every 7 words. That makes for a really out-there conversation!

LOL, I don't have that problem with my phone, but it's a ploy I use when I want to get out of a conversation. I interupt the person speaking by saying loudly.....we're............up.........can't hear...............and in between crunch wax paper in my hands! LOL Works like a charm, because when I just hang up they think we got cut off because of a bad connection and when they call right back, I let it go to voicemail! I'm so bad!

Wow, that never happened to me... wait.. are you talking landline or cell? It did happen a few times with my cell, but never with my landline. As for people thinking I am saying I can't hear them just to get off the phone, it didn't happen to me yet. That would annoy me at the least.

Well my cell only does it when other people are using speaker phone. Apparently people hear ME fine when I'm on speaker phone. I was actually on my landline and my FRIEND was on her cell phone, and I swear she sounded like she was under the ocean. It was really bizarre. I have voIP for my homeline though, maybe that has something to do with it?

That is strange. Maybe being voip contributed to it, but I would think that maybe was more on the cell side.
