I think that the Blackhawks will be a very difficult team to play against next year. The problem they will have is the following year when some of the younger guys like Patrick Kane become free agents. Signing Hossa long term like they did will put them in a tough place unless they can find someone to take him in a trade which may be difficult. But, for now look out for the Blackhawks

The limitless future that the Hawks had after last season is now gone. How big was the bond between former GM Tallon and the young players on the team? And who will play goal for them?

They sign him to a 12 year contract, I doubt that they will trade him off any time soon. As far as someone taking him for trade, it all depends on what different teams need when they go into the playoff stretch and what they are willing to give in future trades.

It's like the Avalanche signing Jose Theodore a few years ago, paying high $$ for a goalie that couldn't deliver, any more, if you are a great player, I would pay them top $$ but for a couple of year max, if you have a good relationship, they will always renew if you treated them right.

It seems like Hossa is a journeyman.I agree that he should have stayed with The Wings. But then again if he had stayed with the Pend ,his name would be on the Cup already.I can't help feel that the Pens would have beaten my Wings in 5 if Hossa was in the Pens sweater. To be honest,I don't follow The Hawks. Did they Really need Hossa?

Yes, to a 12 year contract worth 62 mil. I guess he is no longer a journeyman, unless some other team is going to foot the bill.

Hossa will not be winning a Stanley Cup anytime soon. Chicago has made some very bad cap moves. Big question now is - who is their goalie after losing Habibulin? Huet is not good enough and will be a huge cap hit for the next few years.

So far the Blackhawks have doing good, if they can retain the young talents, they may give the Redwings a run for their money.
