By good I mean...is it worth ditching my Vista for? What I'm really apprehensive about is that it's still in the testing stages...But is it worth it? Because it's going to mean that I'd have to reformat my computer completely again...

vista will be replaced by 7 easily. vista was a complete failure in many people's eyes, why else would microsoft be so quick in replacing it.
if you want to test it, microsoft offers a release candidate download. some drivers do not yet work on 7, so be warned. it looks much mroe promising than vista, but im not sure im ready to give up XP

I don't think you have to format your computer. Your data will remain intact. Just the vista files will be deleted and the new 7 files will take their place. I recently changed from XP to vista. And you know what, it did not even delete the old files. It just moved all of them into a folder named windows.old !!!
About the beta stage, yes it is still n testing... So its your risk. Mostly, it won't create any problems except for a few I guess... But then, there are updates that MS will constantly provide. So if you are an adventurer like me, then just go for it.
Hey another thing, I've a 2gb RAM and a 160 GB HDD. Would windows 7 be good for me ?
Whats your configuration ???

Well,if i had been in your place, i would have thrown vista out of my house. Windows 7 a tons better than windows vista. It provides fast bootupp time, more stability, more security, fixes UAC controls, helps to accomplish tasks faster, better at managing devices as well as its more user-friendly. You can download the 90 -day trial of the RTM at http://www.technet.com

You can upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. You can do this by sticking in the CD, with Vista working on desktop. You can also dual-boot or multi boot windows 7 and windows vista (also XP), so you have 2 (or more) on your computer. I have done it and had no problems before.
if you want you can run Windows 7 on Vista and you dont want to install a new copy of Windows 7. There is software called VM ware.

Yes windows 7 is much better than any other windows out there so far. It's basically vista with all the fixes that vista wish it was and it has some new features. It expands on vista's capabilities example readyboost now supports multiple flash drives etc. It looks neater and you can drag taskbar icons (move them) around, and there's lots of fancy animations. I've been running it for a year now, in various builds. Right now at 7600. Previously 7100.
