1. Portability - ask yourself if you really need the portability of a laptop. If you are always on the road, a 1.5kg notebook is cool. If you use it in the office and bring it home afterwards, a 2.3kg would be a choice.
2. Hard Drive Capacity -Do you keep tons of pictures, songs, files, movies? if you do, a 320gb or higher would be advisable.
3. Memory -a lot of laptops run with a minimum of 1gb. If you are on to gaming, video editing, and other programs which need high memory capacity, then choose a laptop with at least 2gb of RAM.
4. The Display -if you do like to watch movies or play games, I suggest a 14" inch wide screen. It really depends on your choice.
5. The processor - To avoid much of a problem with processing, a good processor is need. intel atom 1.6ghz is ok, Dual core is good but core 2 duo is better.

I love my laptop. The software itsself isn't any different from a regular PC, just that the computer itsself is portable. I love being able to go where I want with it, anytime I want. The one feature I really reccomend is a good wireless modem, so that you can pick up wireless internet conneections in places that offer it.
