in the medium term being able to make small savings won't help you, you need to be sure that you are paid what you are worth, be prapred to switch jobs to build your carrer, and invest your own time in your training and skillset.
Being well paid will be faremore important financially than antyhing else you can so.

thanks just_mavis. i appreciate your advice. i'll do that. but in the right time because at times like this, life is tough. it is not easy to give up my job if i don't have enough savings plus the benefits i am getting from the company. i am really thinking so hard what's the best for me. but maybe i am wasting time already?
thanks for the post. :)

Hi,its great to know about just_mavis advice however we must take note that in times of this economic downturn, we just have to accept and be contented with what we have, in other words, appreciate our job and stick to it, putting aside of a sudden career change. In future, when there are better prospect out there, then it would be fine to switch jobs. Just my humble opinion because i have friends who switch jobs in times like this and regretted. Although, there might be a pay cut or a cut in bonus and etc, we must learn to be humble and have a positive thinking with regards to our job. We must realise that we do not suffer alone as there are others who are much much more worst than us.

I think I have been working two and half years since graduation as once I've been unemployed for a year something, and I don't save much too. Moreover, I buy a car last year, and if I don't ahve that car, maybe I would save a lot currently. RM600 per month and now as I worked at other places, the car is just at my parents house. Me too, still looking for ways to earn money, and it wasn't easy through online. But I'm not giving up, I will learn and make mistakes, until i reach my goal.

same here.. i don't have a lot of money even to buy a car, perhaps a used car I can afford. but anyway, what i am trying to spend on is something that i could generate income from. and based on a book i have read somewhere, an expense is an asset if we generate an income out of it.. if you are using it while it loses its value, then it is a liability. i want to spend my money wisely. and like you, still looking for ways to make money. offline or online. whatever works. right? :)
thanks for the post.

I work as a Emergency Roadside Dispatcher for Geico Insurance. On the 28th of this month it would be my one year anniversary. I want to move in a different department but I don't want my hours to change just yet. In my profile I have sites that you may be interested in to make extra money with.

that is what i am doing. but it seems to be not enough because i don't earn that big bucks here in the Philippines. It's a little higher than day jobs out there but there are so many expenses that is inevitable really.
now my goal is to have an alternate income and look for a passive income while doing my full time job in the process. this way my savings will get a bigger savings..
right now i am canvassing for a high-interest time deposit account in commercial banks here in my place.just like you, so as to avoid spending it..
thanks for the post.

I am working ever since I was in my first year in college. I have been a working student for most of my college life. I don't rely so much with my parents and to my siblings and that is why I work.
It is very hard to earn now a days, you have to pass so many struggles and you have to overcome it. I did most of my earnings now a days on my blogs. I have 4 blogs which is running on online for almost 2 years now and I can say it helps to have an online money making.

Well we have the same story. I have no savings yet I am planning to leave my job soon. I do not know what I am doing wrong. I am working really hard. I also have part time jobs, But i still don't know why I am not making enough. i am trying to save in purchases as much as possible, but before payday, I am almost out of cash all ready. That is the reason why I am joining money making sites. I might bump into something and get lucky. who knows right?

hahaha...well...maybe work on your own budget and see areas where you can cut down.
A little saving is better than nothing. And soon it will be heaps before you even realise.
Or you could find a part time job....but I would say if you have a full time job already, best rest (and not over spend) during the weekends!

hmm.. i did a lot of saving on my 1st to 2d yrs of working. I set aside 20-40% of my net income. i was able to buy a laptop of my own. but i still find it really slow progress. im 24 already and i aim to save a lot on my 30th birthday.
im really pushing myself too hard to learn about financial literacy.
maybe because i lack a mentor that could guide me?

Hello! I am an elementary teacher which is awesome because I get the entire summer off. However, it is challenging during the school year.
Have you ever tried donating plasma? I use to do that and make $50 a week. Check out and see if there are any plasma donation centers in your area.

not yet. besides i think it's too risky at this times. and i am aiming for low risk money-making schemes right now. in which i don't really put out too much money.i wouldn't want to lose my hard-earned money you know..
but maybe someday when i have enough money on my emergency fund, i could risk to an investment like that..

hi narcy. i work as an office clerk and as the same time a cash collector. i'm with this agency for almost six years now but with this job alone, i seem not to survive the crisis. until last quarter of last year, i have been working with a part-time job which gives made my income almost double. i was one who were terminated due to the company's savings system to prevent more people retrenced. as of now, i earn from my regular job and makes mylot my regular online work, day and night. small and slow earnings with mylot is better than none at all... neil
